Obviously, you were right and I was wrong. I still think he gave a great speech. He's the man who should be our next president. I'm just not feeling very encouraged about his chances right now.

..DH just finished 9th—but we’re not finished yet...

If you know how the Ames straw poll works--all you need is to be over the age of 18 and buy a ticket to attend (you don't even have to be an Iowa resident, I don't think)--you'll realize that it only means that Mitt Romney was able to buy more tickets for his people than anyone else.

Romney spent $3 million on that Straw Poll.

I’m not giving up or voting for anyone I don’t want to vote for.

It was a really screwy situation that included candidates who aren’t running and candidates who are but didn’t bother to show up.

You're right. Romney bought it. If Duncan Hunter had ponied up $3 million, he'd be the winner.

No big deal. It's cash game.

I’m not voting for anyone I don’t believe in either. I’ve permanently left the ‘Broken Glass Republican’ mindset.

I just don’t see anyone else in (or out) of the race who has what it takes to beat the democrats.

Hunter impresses the hell out of me

I'm a Fred guy, but I really don't understand why Hunter can't go anywhere. He is right on everything, a good speaker, a nice guy and has a good record. I just can't figure it out. It's not name....I never heard of Mitt until this year.

And that is sad. People should study Iraq more carefully.

Duncan Hunter: Hey thanks Mike. First with the respect to imposing democracy from the barrel of a gun, the only guns we held on the days when they had Free Election in Iraq was the Americans along with the Iraqi Police who were protecting the voting places and that included the suicide bomber that rushed in to try to blow up a bunch of voters and one of the Iraqi Policeman bear hugged him and pulled him out of the voting area and was killed with him when that guy tried to kill voters. So those people that voted in the Iraqi Elections voted in a Free and Fair Election. All the international observers agree with that.

Yeah and the state of affairs reflect that.

Profits/money over country, regardless of consequences.

We'll have to watch the news to see what Mr. Hunter does. I'll stay with him as long as he's in the race, but this event is significant. Mike Huckabee is going to get great coverage for making a strong second place showing without spending a great deal of money. Sam Brownback might get a little bit of a bounce as well. If Mr. Hunter had received that coverage, he might be on his way out of the second tier. Without that coverage, I'm not seeing how he's going to get people to take his campaign seriously. Even Tom Tancredo is going to get some nice coverage, and he's competing for the same base that Mr. Hunter needs.

Slick political doublespeak just ain’t going to get the job done. It’s going to take a true believer in America to beat the democrats.

And I’ll continue to support him regardless of his standing in the popularity contest simply because it is the right thing to do. His campaign will get another $100 this month from us - regardless of polling results. And the next month, the Lord willing.
