Thanks Ali, kind of slow around here today. Hope you got lots and lots of reading for me.

I live in Maryland, which is bluer than Massachusetts - probably has a higher percentage of workers on government payrolls than any other state - and even here I am sensing a turning away from democrat political platforms.

The issue is immigration, and loyal (up to now) democrats - at least the ones who call talk shows - are seriously considering Republican candidates based on a stronger immigration policy. While I agree with you that one issue people cannot win all of the country, I believe that in many contests whoever comes out with the strongest immigration control policy will win in 2008. I hope Republican candidates recognize this fact.

“How about Fred/Mitt. Mitt’s not as young as he looks, but he’d be plenty young to make a go next time and the VP spot would be way good for making him better known.”

That would work for me. Whomever the Presidential candidate is could benefit from Mitt as VP.

He has some proven business/leadership ability that can balance off the career politicians....

He’s just too fast on his responses.

I want this in our next president, assuming I agree with most of his responses. I am tired of the long pauses in virtually every one of President Bush's answers, especially when it is a question that he knows is coming after a specific event, such as the bridge collapse. I don't mind so much in a press conference because he has to be so careful with his response on international topics.

Could Mitt bring gravitas to the ticket!

I just thought of that word. (ha)

That is IT!

I HAVE HAD IT!

The next time I hear someone whining or complaing about all the “problems” in Iraq, etc...

I am just going to flat out ask them:

“So how would YOU fight the War on Terror?”

and then proceed to pick apart all their “plans”

It’s so easy to whine and complain- but NONE of these folks have ever offered up an intelligent or effective plan to battle this jihadist cult of terrorist thugs!

You have to remember EC while we will go to near any lengths to support the troops and help fight the world wide WOT, since we realize the value of doing such things, in Dem/Rat circles Iraq/the WOT exists only on their talking points sheets that they receive from the DNC.
Other than that they don’t know where Iraq is or could care less.
These are political animals that will sell off or sacrifice anyone or anything for just a little bit more power.
They are soulless “people”(just barely) with only one objective to secure as much power as possible as quickly as possible.

Bearing that in mind it helps explain their every action.

The election cycle is all about making money for the networks and their affiliates as well as the cable news channels. The consultants and ground troops contribute to sucking up a lot of the contributions and shakedowns but the most goes to the television ads.

Our election process provides the same old leaders while generating a complete service industry.

Is that Yorkshire pudding?

My mother would make little ones and we would fill them up with gravy.

She’s English...you know!

Don’t ask her to cook vegetables, though!

I like Chris Wallace as much as I dislike his father. He was nasty to Mitt. Mitt handled him EXTREMELY well.

Fox likes Guilianni, and I believe so does Chris Wallace.

Yes they are Yorkshire Puddings, I fill mine up with gravy as well.

I use what we call in Britain a Yorkshire Pudding tin to make mine in which makes 4 fairly large size Yorkshires about the size of individual fruit or meat pies.

I do not see it that way. Mitt has to establish his own candidacy without giving an opening to his political enemies, any of whom would be glad for the opportunity to warp or confuse anything he says. I think less of any candidate who makes the mistake of trying to enhance their position by taking pokes at President Bush. It shows they lack the smarts to be more circumspect as well as a tendency to disloyalty. We already have too much of the latter in the Republican party and it could be our ruination. Which I suspect is the goal of many who do it. I actually have not chosen a candidate to support fully but I will try to give any who are sincere a good listen and consideration.

The Yorkshires are about the diameter of a CD or DVD

I saw him at the convention in ‘04, and he is really good looking; incredible blue eyes, but I admonished him anyway and got him to give me a really gorgeous smile.

Don’t get me wrong; I still don’t like him.

I thought that even though I knew it to be wrong, I had no right to tell others what to do. I changed my mind about this when I started taking care of premies.

I’d love to see Thompson/Steele. Michael Steele would be a strong voice for our side.
