On Thursday the lens specialist who works with my surgeon actually fitted a trial contact. There’s still some minor changes need to be made to the fit (so it won’t pop out) and the prescription needs to be tweaked, but it’s a welcome start. I mean, it’s only been 260 days since the surgery and I haven’t had any usable vision in that eye... (no, I’m not frustrated, not at all)
My other woe right now is a bad bacterial systemic infection. It started with a mild rash that the dermatologist thinks was a reaction to one of my blood pressure medicines. When I took those trips to Hawaii and then Florida in quick succession in May/June the added heat and humidity caused that to flair up into an intense heat rash which then got infected, particularly a few spots on my lower legs. It’s really had me down for awhile. They’ve got me on another course of strong antibiotics and they’re starting to take hold and some steroids to help with the symptoms. This heat wave isn’t helping any and I have to hide in air conditioning and avoid any strenuous activity.
I’m just falling apart! Also, WTMI, I’m sure.
I really need to get this knocked out somehow. I have a full week in town with two full days of presentations at mid-week, followed by three straight weeks of travel, first to Austin, Texas, then Loveland, Ohio (near Cincinnati) and then back to Austin. Oddly it looks like Austin’s weather will be about 5 degrees cooler than here in Memphis, so it may help. Ah well.
Thankyou for the kind words, by the way. I have to keep reminding myself of Wile E. Coyote, though, or this will go straight to my head.
Glad to hear that there is some progress with the eyes even if others things are laying you low. Hopefully when this hot patch of weather is over things will improve for you.
So.... we’re supposed to feel sorry for you because you went to Hawaii and Florida??
Fat chance!
(only kidding, we love you dearly and hope you get over all your ills very soon.)
