Yeah, I've never given a second thought to looking something like this up.......so I cannot cite any definitive scholarly article that states Merv was gay.
Do you dispute it? Is this fact of concern to you? Why?
Seriously, ask any one of your gay friends, neighbors or co-workers. They will confirm.

I watched this guy as a kid. He was entertaining. To think he was gay makes me kind of sick. He was ashamed of the fact he was gay I think. He needed help.

If Merv was gay I say ‘ho hum and thanks for being discrete!’ Merv never made entertainment cheap and for that I thank him.
