Actor Stephen Baldwin to Endorse Brownback

ABC News' Julia Bain reports: Actor Stephen Baldwin tells ABC News that he is ready to endorse Sam Brownback's presidential bid, following the Kansas senator's speech at the Iowa Straw Poll Saturday. Baldwin said that after listening to all the speeches and doing "his homework" he decided to throw his support to Brownback.

Baldwin, who says that his vote is "spiritually motivated," told ABC, "I think what America needs more than anything is a leader who's honest, who's truly a man of faith, and who allows that faith to make his decisions with his common good sense; and I think that's Sam Brownback."

Actor Stephen Baldwin milled around Sam Brownback's tent late Saturday before the results of the straw poll were announced. Baldwin, a born-again Christian, said he asked for sign on which candidate to support.

``I had been really really praying a lot ... for God to give me a sign about who to consider,'' he said, adding that when Brownback's organization contacted him he thought there was some sort of ``celestial suggestion'' there.

He researched the Republican candidates and said Brownback ``is the best guy.''

``I think that the deciding factor for me, quite simply, was when I looked at all the candidates and I considered which guy I believe genuinely, authentically, who was going to be the leader based on his faith ... on a common sense level,'' he said.

Baldwin said he arrived in Iowa on Friday, and wasn't sure when he'd be leaving the state.

Unlike his brother Alec who's a certifiable lunatic.

Brownback is the one that resembles Joe Piscopo doing his impression of Ronald Reagan right? Wonder who his second choice might me because Brownback hasn’t a chance.

Unlike his brother Alec, who coincidentally portrayed a young Jimmy Swaggert in the movie ‘Great Balls of Fire’.

I know lots of people like that and they are admirable people all, but it doesn't mean that I think any of them would make a good president.

Does that really count as an endorsement?

>because Brownback hasn’t a chance.

I've been trying to figure out how to say that his chance is less than zero, but I haven't been able to do it.

He might as well bay at the moon.

Despite Stephen Baldwin’s endorsement, Sam Brownback remains a GAS BAG!

I’d just as soon not hear from any of the Baldwins.

If there were any ethics among the Hoolywoodites, they'd all keep their political opinions to themselves.

I saw with my own eyes (on CSPAN) all I needed to ever see of Brownback when he changed his vote in the last 10 seconds on the floor of the Senate, so as to be on the “winning” side of the Shamnesty bill (cloture).

Absolutely! That was one of the most shameless bit of politics that I have witnessed. That type of dishonesty puts him at the bottom of my list of Republicans.

If Brownback could get his head straight on enforcing immigation laws, I’d support him as well.

This means that if Brownback becomes president, Stephen Baldwin will receive a Kennedy Center Honors medal for his work in “Bio-Dome”.

Jackass Brownback may be a man of confused faith (he's changed his church three times) but he is an open borders loony toon and is a refugee fanatic. He has been instrumental in bringing refugees here- Somalis, primitive tribal peoples and Muslims. He resettles them in any state but his own Kansas because he would not get re-elected

I’m shocked I tell you shocked at the vitriol on this thread. Here’s a Hollywood actor, whose brother is a Big Fat Lib, endorsing a reasonably conservative Republican on the basis of Christian faith, and Freepers are just blasting away.

I say, good for Stephen Baldwin. I’ve met Senator Brownback and he’s a decent man. More than can be said for some candidates. Can he win? Doubtful. But that’s surely not the only criterion for conservatives. Is he the perfect constiutionalist candidate? Probably not. But he’s not too bad.
