Just a guess but I would think someone will sue this company if they get docked for smoking or being fat. This IS discrimination at it's finest.
I have no love for trial lawyers, but I would sue a firm in a New York minute if they tried to dock my wages for this!
I bet the looney lefties, that are outraged by government eavesdropping on foreigners, are perfectly accepting of this outrage.
My company, a Fortune 500, has a surcharge in place already for workers who use tobacco. It costs an extra $30 a month for health insurance so it doesn't look like a dock, but they already are docking pay in many companies for tobacco. We had a health risk assessment this year that was voluntary and tied to a slight discount. Talk is, it'll be mandatory within two years. So far, no lawsuits, and I don't think we'll see one soon.
The whole world discriminates. Companies have a vested interest in not adding to their health care rolls people who are almost certqin to cause heavy claims to be filed. Smokers and fat people smoke and get fat by choice.
The bottom line is that SOMEONE is going to have to pay. The cost of health insurance is simply passed on to the consumer anyway. So if I am a non smoker who has made the effort to keep my weight under control rather than stuffing anything I want into my pie-hole why should I have to paymore for those who have not?
I cannot wait for the statistics to catch up to the health care costs for homosexuals.
Yep, and then when people significantly decrease the amount of fast food they eat, they'll tax something else. It isn't about trying to get people healthy. It's about government's own addiction - to taxes.
