AMMAN - A military court on Monday sentenced two Jordanians to 20 months in jail for recruiting suicide bombers to fight US-led forces in Iraq.

The state security court sentenced Zuhair Hamdan and Nidal Salem to three years in prison, but immediately reduced it to 20 months to ”give them a chance to repent,” a judicial source told AFP.

Hamdan and Salem, who pleaded not guilty at the start of their trial in April, were arrested in October as they returned from neighbouring Syria where they signed up suspects to fight in Iraq.

The court also sentenced to five years in jail three other Jordanian fugitives being tried in absentia in the same case, the source said.

All five were charged with carrying out acts that undermine Jordan’s security and its ties with a foreign nation and faced up to five years in prison.

Jordan is probably our best ally in the ME. This shows that even moderate Muslims cannot help but tiptoe around the Islamists and Jihadists and West haters. 20 months so they can repent........

There are a lot of Christians In Jordan, about 40% of the population. Unfortunately they have to tip toe around Islamic fanatics. Don’t be fooled into thinking that much support from Joradn comes from “moderate Muslims tiptoeing around Jihadi’s”

What do you expect from Muzzies sentencing their own for something they don't even consider a crime? Recruiting for Jihad against infidel invaders is honorable in their minds. I'm amazed they were actually charged and sentenced at all. If this were somewhere else other than Jordan, there probably wouldn't even had been an arrest.
Despite the decade of Syrian occupation, there still is some Christian influence in the Jordan government. But, They have to keep a low profile, it doesn't take much to trigger the Muzzies there to go on a Christian killing rampage, and that's just the sentiments of the regular islamic population.
Then there is Hezbollah, Hamas, And every other kind of Jihadi from where ever lurking around, thanks to the Syrian occupation which Clinton ignored. They don't have a problem assassinating any Christian politican stepping out of line.

I’ve heard from people who have lived in Jordan that Jordanian jails are not the nicest places to have a stay.
