Well he can't win without the conservative base. He's smart enough to know sticking to unpopular positions will only divide the party. This is after all, a conservative - not a liberal - party.

They all lie. That's why the world's second oldest profession bears a decided resemblance to the world's oldest profession. Politicians will say anything they think will get them votes.

Friends don’t let friends vote for liberals. Not even ones with an “R” after their name.

Yes, to some degree. But when you have to try to cover some serious liberal positions, then it becomes egregious to me.

Looks like another indication that Giuliani knows what to do to help eliminate some of the gay related injustices without going Democrat on us.

It is another sophisticated and correct political move and THE BOSTON GLOBE DOESN’T LIKE IT!

The reality is being Mayor Of Gotham is absolutely incompatible with being the Republican Party nominee. As long as the man continues to espouse out of the mainstream liberal positions, conservatives will continue to resist him fiercely. And I'm cynical about this deathbed conversion that Guiliani has claimed to effect.

well who isn’t? Hillary and Obama are talking about troops in Iraq for years. Ku-Ku is about the only guy running left and can’t even win over Democrats. Give me a guy who will support conservative judges and to me that’s more important than personal beliefs. No more O’Connor’s.

Don't put words in my mouth. I'm simply making observations about the candidate. I haven't made up mind yet. Still, I have to say if there's one thing people detest about politicians its the way the erase previous positions - either subtly or blatantly.

Well, whether it’s Romney,Giuliani or any other candidate,if they want the Republican vote, they better start addressing Republican\conservative issues,or they’re going to go down in flames because conservatives want a change from the BS we’ve been dealt in recent years !!!

I'm opposed to his liberal views. And I will support the candidate who supports our party's conservative philosophy.

Agreed! I'm more concerned with whether they will govern like a conservative rather than just mouth platitudes our base wants to hear. I want to see deeds - talk is cheap.

I agree. It’s too early to make up my mind. But so far Giuliani is impressive and the others haven’t done much. Still waiting on Thompson.

It could end up a Giuliani and Thompson ticket, so I hope all the angry conservatives hold their contempt for the Democrats.
