FairTax.org made history on Saturday, August 11. Our grassroots efforts in Iowa made the FairTax the deciding issue in Iowa's Straw Poll. We did it!
You can help us take our fight for the FairTax into the upcoming primary states by making a contribution right now. We need your financial support to make the FairTax the issue in this election. With the kind of momentum that this and other recent FairTax victories are giving us, now is the moment to generously help us carry this fight forward to more early primary states and help us create a national movement that cannot be stopped.
Thank you for answering the "call to duty" and helping us show the nation why the FairTax is becoming a fast-spreading national grassroots wildfire. I'd like to thank everyone who could join us in Ames to make this event a huge success.
I want to especially thank our dedicated volunteers and hardworking staff members who braved almost 100 degree temperatures to make our rallies and hospitality tent the places to be at the Iowa Straw Poll. Their hard work, in extremely difficult weather conditions, set the bar even higher for our next major rally. Yes, we will be rallying on the East Coast again - details coming soon.
Once again, we energized the candidates/campaigns that support the FairTax and reminded those candidates who have failed to support our cause that the FairTax movement is second to none and cannot be summarily dismissed.
We continue to thank Mike Huckabee, Tom Tancredo, Mike Gravel, Duncan Hunter, John McCain, Ron Paul, John Cox, Fred Thompson (yes, it is true!), and Tommy Thompson for their continued support of the FairTax. We now need to focus our efforts on those remaining candidates, both Democratic and Republican, who have not yet publicly expressed their support for the FairTax.
We will provide more details on our success at the straw poll, with some great pictures and video documenting the day in our upcoming newsletter. For now, let's celebrate another great day in the FairTax campaign and look forward to even better ones to come.
As always, thank you for what you do to make successes like today possible.
Warmest regards,
David C. Polyansky Chief Operating Officer

Fred Thompson (yes, it is true!) ???? Based on what??? Thompson campaigned denied it, and the video is an obvious fake, as the fair tax video had obvious edits in it where the question was edited in. Typical fairtax BS. I haven't seen the real time video, but there was so much commotion going on with the screaming kook, it is doubtful Fred could even tell what the question was.

FairTax.org made history on Saturday, August 11. Our grassroots efforts in Iowa made the FairTax the deciding issue in Iowa's Straw Poll. We did it! Romney won the poll, how on earth does that make the fairtax the 'deciding issue'??? Geez, the spin is giving me a headache. Has the fairtax ever considered using the truth in their effort to promote it? Just a suggestion.

Thanks for the post looks like the fair tax will soon be a huge issue in this next election!

PS: How on earth did you come up with such a 180 degree out of phase name????

Two posts -- two wrong statements. Watch it__ three strikes and you're out! Like heck they are. They are both 100% accurate. The video that is posted is a fraud, and the Thompson campaign has denied it. Continue the lies if you wish, but the truth backs me up. Typical fairtax BS.
To: Always Right
Denied, disowned, edited (heavily) proven fraud (just like the unfair tax itself)
and the delusion that the FT will have any effect on the next election is the biggest laugh of all.

Two posts -- two wrong statements. Watch it__ three strikes and you're out! Why not watch the video and explain it to me. The angle of the shot showing the guy asking the question is different. One moment the guy is standing all by himself asking the question, the next moment they cut back to Fred and the questioner is all of a sudden surrounded by people shoulder to shoulder. You really want to defend that fraud???? It is the old fake, but accurate crap that CBS tried to pull off. The fraud tax is at work again. And yes, the Thompson campaign has denied it. So where exactly am I wrong. You can't explain it, you just continue the lies.

I like how they claim I am wrong, but can’t back it up. I don’t know why they think they have to resort to lies to promote their agenda. You would think they are Democrats with their tactics.

Correction - they make Markos of the DailyKrud look positivly civil.

I'm in favor of the FairTax, but I have to agree. The video with Fred Thompson was pretty embarrassing, as is AFT's continued citation of it as "proof" that Fred Thompson is in favor of the FairTax.
I will say that the FairTax probably did have something to do with the strong showings by Huckabee and Tancredo, as, from what I hear, the FairTax people had a strong presence at Ames. I don't think the FairTax cost Romney any votes, and FairTax opponents (Romney, Brownback, Giuliani) did receive more votes in aggregate than did FairTax proponents (Huckabee, Tancredo, Hunter, Tommy Thompson). McCain and Fred Thompson are ambiguous on the issue, and Paul doesn't really fit, since he's opposed to nearly all federal taxation.

I would say the absence of Giuliani, McCain, and Thompson had more to do with there strong showings.
The Iowa Straw Poll is a joke. The result are totally irrelevant. The fact that FairTax.org is pimping these results (Huckabee got 2,587 votes – whoop-de-frickin-doo) is way too typical of them. They aren't a serious organization.

Huckabee is an adroit public speaker. He communicates his message in life-like, cogent terms, with compelling examples like the story he told (at the Ames Straw Poll) of what his then-11-yo daughter entered into the Comments" section of a Visitors Book after visiting the Yad Vashem holocaust museum:
Why didn't somebody do something?
Very effective. Huckabee is all about calling his listeners to
do something, to awaken them to their own empowerment, and
summon them to action in order that Main Street, and not Wall Street, will prevail in guarding the values and beliefs upon which the Republic was founded.
Huckabee puts his listeners at ease, and reassures them, articulating clear concepts in a natural, easy style (no doubt something well-cultivated as a pastor). Hes not angry or demanding, like a Ron Paul, nor is he as
rigidly-scripted as Romney, and his large brown eyes peer through a humble demeanor, drawing a striking contrast to a somewhat
mechanical-squinty Brownback.
One can easily imagine sitting comfortably with this man over a cup of coffee at the Main Street Cafe.
Most importantly, perhaps, Huckabee convinces many that
he is ONE with the FairTax grassroots movement. While many - like Romney, and others, who are invested in the current income tax system - seek to
demagog the well-researched FairTax plan, its acceptance in the
professional / academic community continues to grow. Renown economist Laurence Kotlikoff believes that failure to enact the FairTax - choosing instead to try to
flatten what he deems to be a non-flattenable income tax system - will eventuate into an
irrevocable economic meltdown because of the hidden aspects of the current system that make political accountability impossible.
Romney's recent WEAK response to FairTax questioning on
This Week with Geo. Stephanopoulos drew a sharper contrast between Huckabee and all other presidential front-runners who will not embrace it. Huckabee understands that what's wrong with the income tax can't be fixed with
a tap of the hammer, nor a twist of the screwdriver.
That his opponents cling to the destructive Tax Code, the IRS, preserving political power of granting tax favors at continued cost to - and misery of - American families, invigorates his campaign's raison d'etre.
Of the FairTax, Huckabee asserts that it's...
SIMPLE, easy to understand
EFFICIENT, inexpensive to comply with and doesn't cause less-than-optimal business decisions for tax minimization purposes
FAIR, FLAT, and FAMILY FRIENDLY, loophole-free, and everyone pays their share
LOW TAX RATE is achieved by broad base with no exclusions
PREDICTABLE, doesn't change, so financial planning is possible
UNINTRUSIVE, doesn't intrude into our personal affairs or limit our liberty
VISIBLE, not hidden from the public in tax-inflated prices or otherwise
PRODUCTIVE, rewards - rather than penalizes - work and productivity
A detailed benefits analysis of the plan (from The FairTax Book) explains Huckabee's ardent advocacy:
FOR
INDIVIDUALS:
No more tax on income - make as much as you wish
You receive your full paycheck - no more deductions
You pay the tax when you buy
at retail - not
used No more double taxation (e.g. like on current Capital Gains)
Reduction of
pre-FairTaxed retail prices by 20%-30%
Adding back 29.9% FairTax maintains current price levels
FairTax would constitute 23% portion of new prices
Every household receives a monthly check, or
pre-bate Prebate is
advance payback for monthly consumption to poverty level
FairTax's prebate ensures progressivity, poverty protection
Finally, citizens are knowledgeable of what their tax IS Elimination of parasitic Income Tax industry
NO MORE IRS. NO MORE FILING OF TAX RETURNS by individuals
Those possessing illicit forms of income will ALSO pay the FairTax
Households have more disposable income to purchase goods
Savings is bolstered with reduction of interest rates
FOR
BUSINESSES:
Corporate income and payroll taxes revoked under FairTax
Business compensated for collecting tax at
cash register No more tax-related lawyers, lobbyists on company payrolls
No more embedded (hidden) income/payroll taxes in prices Reduced costs. Competition - not tax policy - drives prices
Off-shore
tax haven headquarters can now return to U.S
No more favors from politicians at expense of taxpayers Resources go to R&D and study of competition - not taxes
Marketplace distortions eliminated for fair competition
US exports increase their share of foreign markets
FOR THE
COUNTRY:
7% - 13% economic growth projected in the first year of the FairTax
Jobs return to the U.S. Foreign corporations
set up shop in the U.S.
Tax system trends are corrected to
enlarge the pie Larger economic
pie, means thinner tax rate
slices Initial 23% portion of price is pressured downward as
pie increases
No more closed-door tax deals by politicians and business at our expense FairTax sets new global standard. Other countries will follow
While passionately supporting FairTax, Huckabee understands that, if elected President, Congress will have to present the bill for his signature.
His call to action goes beyond his candidacy, Main Street will have to
demand that their legislators deliver the bill.
