Environmental Protesters Arrested

Energy activists chain themselves up inside an Asheville bank in protest of the company's energy policies.

A group calling itself "The Climate Convergence" has been gathering in Transylvania County since last week. Monday they staged a protest in front of the Bank of America building on Patton Avenue.

Police say 5 protesters chained themselves to fixtures inside the lobby of the bank, they were all arrested. Police worked to move activists off the street and they largely complied after a strong law enforcement presence showed up, including some K-9 officers.

The activists say Bank of America has bad policies toward the environment. Police has originally thought the group was going to target the Progress Energy plant at Lake Julian, and had put increased security in place around the facility.

They could probably use the shower. Or bath, depending on where they are. Anything to get them clean.

I wonder how these kooks keep themselves warm in the winter. How did they get to the protest?

“Stop Funding Coal?”

To hell with the K-9’s and the high-pressure hoses, next time put a call in to the United Mine Workers Local!

These hypocritical eco-kooks have no problem using the bounty of the industrial world in their own lives. Look at any event photo.

There was a time when eco-orgs sensibly wanted to clean up hazardous pollution and eyesores! Lady Byrd Johnson was behind the Highway Beautification Act. EPA Superfund cleans up haz mats.

No.

Two activists locked down inside the main lobby and other activists blockaded the entrance to the downtown branch of Bank of America.

The protest included a large, lively group of concerned citizens dressed as canaries and polar bears.

Activists carried signs and banners that read: “Bank of America Stop Funding Climate Change,” “Bank of America Stop Mountaintop Removal,” “No Coal, No Nukes, No Kidding” “Bank of America Climate Criminal.”

Good grief.

Not sure which is worse nude or wearing Polar Bear costumes.

Since BofA is blind when it comes to who there customers are (illegal immagrants get debit cards/accounts) and the nutso’s are bleeding hearts for the illegals someone should have called them on it.

I travel for work to Asheville, NC every so often. Really beautiful part of the country but the actual town is overrun with liberal wackos. It actually has a large gay population and the “San Francisco of the East” nickname is very fitting in that sense.
