National Marine Fisheries Service scientists say fatal collisions with ships average about two a year and are the greatest source of known deaths in a right whale population that has dwindled to about 300.

It’s important to not let your million ton shipping freighter exceed 25 knots, or to use it as a water skiier.

Hitting the boats I doubt is the problem, hitting the propellers sounds more likely. And if it’s going 5 knots or 80 knots, the propeller is just as deadly.
