Terror Threat Grows Quietly, Report Warns
Washington Post ^ | August 16, 2007 | Dan Eggen

The most serious terrorist threat facing the United States cannot be seen by U.S. law enforcement and intelligence officials, according to a report issued yesterday by the New York City Police Department. The 90-page report, compiled by two police counterterrorism analysts, argues that the danger posed by homegrown radical Islamists is growing, fueled by Internet communications and the growing global popularity of jihadist ideology....

But the report's broad conclusions prompted sharp criticism yesterday from civil liberties and Islamic groups, who said that New York police officials were casting suspicion on all Muslims. For example, the report says that possible "incubators" for radicals include mosques, cafes, cabdriver hangouts, prisons, student associations, nongovernmental organizations and hookah bars.

"Making all Muslims suspects is ethnic profiling, and it's unconstitutional," said Christopher Dunn, associate legal director of the New York Civil Liberties Union. New York City Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly disagreed...

In a statement included with the New York report, Rand Corp. terrorism expert Brian Michael Jenkins said that although "radicalization and recruiting are taking place in the United States, there is no evidence of a significant cohort of terrorist operatives" here...

We “profile” every time we go past Starbucks at the Barnes & Noble Bookstore.

“Damn terrorists, why doesn’t someone arrest them!”

I’m getting damn tired of hearing how muslim immigrants from the Middle East are in some way “home grown”.

The Muslims in the U.S. should be policing themselves, but they are not. They need to go back to their homes until this terror war ends. When people say that can’t be done, I direct them to ANY airport that has hundreds of jets that can fly to the Mid-East in 12 hrs.

The Japanese attacked the U.S. ONCE.

...fueled by Internet communications and the growing global popularity of jihadist ideology....

We'll really be in it when "jihadist ideology" becomes a hollywood craze, like "heroin chic", or "going to jail for DUI" as Paris and Lindsey have done. It'll be "hot". Once the Hollywood crowd decides to REALLY grasp it as an attention grabber to get names in the paper, then the sheep will emulate them. mho

So you "civil liberties and Islamic groups"--why don't YOU show some outrage, why don't YOU trying helping law enforcement to catch and lock up those "bad" Islamists? Wouldn't that then make life nicer for you? You could show us all that you are indeed a "Religion of Peace."

Well, there's also the African-American version of Islam... notice they mentioned prisons. That's where they're recruited.

Understood. But this report also specifially mentions Middle Eastern immigrants and speculates that they’ve become alienated from American society and turned to radical islam because of it. When the truth is, they brought the islam with them and were radicalized before they ever got off the boat.

Whats needed is to OUTLAW their hateful, warmongering, expansionist cult.

Their Koran? Is only a compilation of hate literature advocating conversion OR death for all infidels.

thats directed at you and me.....and the handful of jews.

thats why it has to be outlawed
