Two medical helicopters enroute to Utah mine after report of new collapse

That sucks real bad. Sounds like rescuers are being rescued now.
Prayers for all involved.
I am assuming that some rescuers have had mishap.
I hope it’s not the rescuers. They couldn’t have reached the miners yet - right?
Prayers for all, I’m praying and hoping this is not for rescuers- but hoping they have reached live miners from the initial mine problems.
Oh no. Prayers lifted for everybody affected by this entire tragedy.
That mine owner dude has been the most annoying, arrogant bastard. I hate that he is the spokesman for the entire operation. I am sure all who work for him can’t stand him either; they must be cringing every time he takes the mic.

Ambulances, Med Chopper Seen Racing To Coal Mine
(KUTV) HUNTINGTON - At least five ambulances and a medical helicopter raced to the coal mine near the town of Huntington on Thursday evening to provide emergency medical treatment although it was not immediately clear why.
Witnesses saw the ambulances arrive at the Crandall Canyon coal mine at approximately 7:15 p.m. Thursday. Authorities also reportedly cleared the road so that the emergency vehicles could race to the mine. Civilian vehicles were also seen racing to the coal mine, presumably containing officials from the Mine Safety and Health Administration.
2News reporter Katie Baker observed two of the ambulances racing back down the canyon, with EMTs performing chest compressions on victims in the back. It was not immediately made clear who the victim or victims are, or what happened to cause injury.

Ambulances Called to Crandall Canyon Mine
August 16th, 2007 @ 7:52pm
(KSL News)
Theres been a flurry of activity at the Crandall Canyon mine tonight. Early reports from NBC Network News suggest that four rescue miners have been injured.
The situation seems to have started at about 7:20 this evening. The Emery County sheriff was seen driving quickly up the road, followed by ambulance. Another ambulance followed and a helicopter also appeared to have landed at the site.
Just minutes later an ambulance came back down. One ambulance left the scene with a person inside performing chest compressions on someone.
Emery County Sheriff Lamar Guymon declined to comment. Well keep you updated as details become available.

Damn, they have a problem there.
PRayers offered for these miners.
It's the Golden Rule: He who has the gold makes the rules!
>>How long before the mine owner claims it was another earthquake?<<
I’ve been wondering the same thing. He keeps talking about the rescue is being compromised by more seismic activity. Yet, the seismologists are all reporting that there was never any earthquake.
Oh no, that’s it, its over.
God bless them all, and their families.
Unbelievably sad, such hard working brave men.
I don’t care that he has money, I care that he is an arrogant bastard.
Patients arriving at Castleview hospital. Presser at the hospital in a half hour. (KUTV reporting one possible fatality.)
Oh no. Those poor men.
I do not see him the way you do. He seems very caring and exhausted. I think he is a scrapegoat. Mines have accidents. They never will be accident free. Never. It is like thinking a police officer will never be shot. BLAME<BLAME<BLAME. I would truly hate to be in his shoes. I feel sorry for him and everyone involved. What do you want him to do?????
Just where do you get your information?
If these are rescue folks injured, you can bet they will ratchet down the pace of the rescue efforts so as not to jeapordize any more rescuers trying to save those original miners. Hope and pray all works out.
We don't know anything yet. It may not be over for the trapped guys. Of course, it also could be worse than it was, with rescuers now in trouble. But we don't know.
They've been experiencing a lot of "bounces" during the rescue.
From the Department of Labor website:
...Wednesday, August 15, 8 p.m. EDT
The third borehole intersected the mine at 12:11 p.m. EDT. A microphone was placed into the hole but no sounds were detected. Workers are still injecting compressed air into the mine through the second borehole. Three bounces occurred at 1:15 p.m. EDT, 1:30 p.m. EDT and 1:40 p.m. EDT. No injuries resulted from the bounces. Provisions for a fourth borehole are currently underway. There are 45 people underground including, 3 from MSHA...
They've had to evacuate the rescuers on several occasions due to bounces.
Give him a few minutes.
He has to find the cameras first.
Every time I see him on TV the first thing I think of is Boss Hogg.
From Du and the Daily KOS and the liberal commie media. Too bad many of our troops are gulliable. DU just hates the guy and he is guilty of murder cause he owns a mine. Simple. Aganist anything Capitalist. Well lets just quit mining. Do without coal. Think that would be a good idea. Silly.
Here’s a report from seismologists...
http://seismo.berkeley.edu/~peggy/Utah20070806.htm
“The results of our analysis show that most of the seismic wave energy is consistent with an underground collapse, however the cause of the mine collapse is still unknown.”
Shades of the old song, 'Big John.' (and they never reopened that worthless pit...)
TANKS for the ping,,,Sounds like another rock-burst,,,
Just blatherin’ on FOX...
I don’t see how it could be any other than the rescue team. Heroes all.
Five ambulances have left the main entrance. How sad.
Prayers up for our neighbors in central Utah.
I agree with you.
it is so easy to blame...and of course “the evil capitalist.”
I see the owner as very caring, and exhausted. You are right, mines have accidents, other occupations have accidents...and we just want everyone and everything to function perfectly and if it ( or they) don’t Sue them!
How babyish...
I heard on some radio show this afternoon that some of the rescuers had quit because of unsafe conditions. Don’t know if that’s true or not.
“That mine owner dude has been the most annoying, arrogant bastard. I hate that he is the spokesman for the entire operation. I am sure all who work for him cant stand him either; they must be cringing every time he takes the mic.””
The mine owner is the Chuckie Schumer of the mining industy.
Never get between him and a camera.
He reminds me of someone I once worked for, who could also give the impression of being very arrogant, but actually was not bad to work for.
I'm really impressed that the owner (1) has not left the site and says he will not until the miners are out (he's not a spring chicken and must be exhausted) and (2) he insists that the families must be informed first so that they get information from him and not from the press.
I just sense that he is not genuine and he is always trying to cover his ass. Maybe I am wrong about him, but it's just how he strikes me. Not too bright and responsible for way more than he can handle.
I could be all wrong about him though. I just wish he would have used a kind and compassionate spokesman to handle the situation.
“That mine owner dude has been the most annoying, arrogant bastard. I hate that he is the spokesman for the entire operation. I am sure all who work for him cant stand him either; they must be cringing every time he takes the mic.”
I was commenting on the same thing to my bro-in-law today and he informed me that the owner was a big time Republican and gave lots of money. Hadn’t heard or read that!
What’s a bounce?
Check this link
Up in the right hand corner is info pertaining to this mine.
It's my understanding bounces are caused by compression in the mountain.
Causes floors, ceilings and walls to crumble.
I'm told bounces are commonplace.
Even Republicans can be arrogant bastards.
Did you not see his fit about the cause of the first collapse? He was pathetic.
That's probably still the case in Utah.
Can they get a seismologist from someplace other than Berkely? That right there makes the reports about the cause suspect.
A bounce is the same as a bump.
The original bounce that trapped the miners was the walls giving way explosivly inward. The roof held.
Oh dear lord, prayers for all of them to be all right.
Is there a harder job in America than being a miner?
Right now I can’t think of one.
I agree. He’s a camera whore. I couldn’t believe he said at today’s press conference (out of the blue), “I’m no better than these guys....” Where did that come from? Then he said it again. Oy.
Why is it hard to understand that a mine owner would feel very strongly about a mine collapse being caused by earth tremors as opposed to his incompetence? I don’t know whether he is right or wrong, but I hate all the instant judgments about people. I’m glad the guy opens his mouth rather than sit there and let the reporters tell him what to think.
