“Lets just hope our troops are never spread way to thin over in the middle east that the US has to ask the UN to provide non US troops to protect our streets.”

America once had the ‘deputy’, and that was anyone the Sheriff deputized in an emergency.

Had Nagin not been the smarmy racist opportunist he is, he could have deputized responsible citizens and the NOLA debacle would have played out rather differently.

Armed citizens are the base of power in America during emergencies. An example is the fact that while the national Guard was not on site, and they were not issued ammo when they first arrived in Homestead, FL, Homestead had no significant looting after Hurricane Andrew.

Homestead citizens were armed. A van or two of wanna be looters went back to Miami full of holes and that stopped the trash/looters.

What’s sad is the NOPD and company went after regular law abiding citizens in NOLA who wanted to protect what was left of their property.

Great for homestead to protect itself.
