We have been asked to let as many FReepers as possible know about several items near and dear to the D.C. Chapter.

First, Josh Sparling, a wounded Vet at Walter Reed who received a "Hope You Die" Christmas card in 2005, and who has attended several FReeps, has successfully under gone a surgery on his already amputated leg to relieve the constant pain that he had. His family wants to Thank All of those who have prayed for Josh over the last several years.

Second, Mike Sparling, with the help of several D.C. FReepers, has started a web site called America's Wounded Heroes.

It's Mission is to: Provide financial assistance to military personnel, policemen, firefighters, and EMT’s wounded in service who have put their lives at risk to protect and serve American citizens.

Enable such persons to obtain relief in the area of special adaptive mobility equipment such as motorized wheelchairs, golf carts, segways, and other mobility devices not provided for by the government and private insurance.

Give such persons monetary grants for the transition from hospitals or rehabilitation facilities back to active service or monetary grants needed for the transition from hospitals or rehabilitation facilities back to civilian life."

AMERICAS WOUNDED HEROES' REQUEST IN THIS POST IS FOR THE FOLLOWING.

VA Mortgage is having another Charity for Charities Contest. Being new and in need of funds, America's Wounded Heroes could sure use some seed money.

There are a lot of other well known web sites on the list that help our soldiers, whether wounded or active duty. While in good faith we're not going to discourage you from voting for them, America's Wounded Heroes is near and dear to several D.C. Chapter FReepers who have made Walter Reed their second home, helping the wounded.
