Having been both to Korea and to India, in the latter of which I witnessed some of India’s extremely unfortunate stray dogs (also called pi dogs), I can say with some degree of assurance that Korea wouldn’t take them. Not even North Korea.
A medium-large-sized dog was hit by a jeep in front of our battle group’s headquarters in Camp Kaiser (Unchon-ni, Korea) and knocked to the side of the road.
The BG’s physician came out of the aid station and gave the dying pooch a shot and rolled the body into a drainage ditch at the side of the road.
A short time later, papasan came by on his bicycle and saw the dog’s corpse.
Tied that sucker to the rear fender and rapidly peddled off to the village in delight.
