WASHINGTON: Some Mexican trucks will be allowed to carry cargo anywhere in the United States as soon as a U.S. inspector general certifies safety and inspection plans, the administration of President George W. Bush announced Friday.
The latest step toward implementing a controversial provision of the 1994 North American Free Trade Agreement drew instant condemnation from labor and driver-owner groups that fear the program will erode highway safety and eliminate U.S. jobs.
The decision was announced by a Transportation Department notice in the Federal Register, a daily compendium of new federal rules read mostly by lobbyists and lawyers.
A one-year demonstration project allowing 100 Mexican motor carriers full access to U.S. roads will begin as soon as the department's inspector general certifies that safety and inspection plans and facilities are sufficient to ensure the Mexican trucks are at least as safe as U.S. trucks. That requirement was imposed by Congress.
Mexican trucks are now confined to commercial zones within about 25 miles (40.2 kilometers) of the border.

We’re gonna have to take this into our own hands.
bttt
except in the DBM.
Here's a shot of one of the early trucks, heading to La Jolla, just north of San Diego, California.
.. as we speak, brother ... as we speak.
Well amnesty bill or not,GW’s continuing to build his little North American Union regardless of who likes it or not !!!
No worry, there will be only one pervasive language.
... and they already know it fluently.
Carl Rove resigns, Tony Snow is resigning shortly. Could it be that W will not listen to the voice of the people, even when it is deafening? Just a thought.
THIS will tick me off every bit as much as the immigration debacle.
Just wait till El Qaedo trucking gets their Mexican franchise started
BUMP!
i always got a kick out of the mexican pickup trucks over loaded with used los angeles mattresses,
stacked 10 feet high, wobbling on the 405 freeway on the way to tj.
i never once saw a chp officer stop them.

Roadblocks for Mexican trucks in U.S. (Duncan Hunter - NAFTA Trucking Safety Act)
The cargo will have RFID chips in them and they will match up with the manifest and get a BIG Green light to go. Problem is there will be other contraband as in people, drugs, etc that will be able to come in and won’t go back out.
Can’t hardly wait.
I went to (breederville.com) as per your sig. What exactly is that site? I was lost. I will admit that this has happened before.
Observation:
Dec. 2005-August 2006 I was recalled by the company (I’m retired) to perform a task for them. This involved dealing with trucks, and truckers of course. I couldn’t help but notice the many Mexican Owner Operators coming and going at the facility I was operating in their BRAND NEW PETERBILTS.
Bear in mind these are people working equipment and load shuttle locally with Rail Containers as their loads, and are getting as little as $40.00 per move.
How does one pay for a ‘Pete’ at those rates, and how does one manage to keep them up, plus add on all the chrome and Silhouette Art, etc. that goes with that...er...um...territory?
They gotta have an Angel with Deeeeeeep Pockets backing them don’t they. Now....whom would that be?
It’s an agri sales and community site.
Thank you President Bush!
