Five dozen Nebraska Army National Guardsmen met friends and family today after a year's service in Iraq.

Members of the 867th Quartermaster Petroleum Supply Battalion celebrated as they were greeted at Omaha's Burke High School.

Police and patriot riders escorted the guardsmen who were being bused in from Mississippi.

Sgt. Bonnie Frasier says it was overwhelming and exciting to see her husband in front riding a motorcycle. He wiped away tears after hugging her.

The unit was activated in June last year. Among them were a dozen soldiers from the Scottsbluff area.

Guard spokesman Kevin Hynes says that with the unit's return, about 615 Nebraska Guard members remain in Iraq, 15 in Afghanistan and eight are heading to Kosovo.
