I remember that we didn’t have an “air force” at that time I think. Didn’t they just call it the army?

Officially, it was the Army Air Corp before 1947.

Officially, it was the Army Air Corp before 1947.

The U.S. Army Air Corps was re-designated as the U.S. Army Air Forces in 1941.
