this man has 5 sons ? right ?
and not one of them felt the need to enlist ?
why did our young adult children simply drop everything ?
their education, jobs— anything familiar with them and get up and leave their homes for the military ?
think it was all about the benefits or nothing else to do ?
one that enlisted in 2001 was all of 18 and with my approval....she’s a sgt now in the USMC.
what’s his family debating ?
That's why you can be a Marine then go on and be an actor, lawyer, CEO, teacher or doctor. It's only a part of what you choose to do with your life. Then you look back when your 50-60 and wish you'd of been part of an organization like the Army, Navy, Marines or Air Force.
We all make "choices" and then live with them.
I don’t understand your post, should he have pressured them to join?
They believe, like Cheney, that they have better things to do. To paraphrase Kennedy 'ask not what I can do for my country, ask somebody else'.
I suppose they have “other priorities”.
Last time I checked, having children in the military was not a requirement to being CIC,
BTW, I am not a Romney fan.
Ok. Mitt is not my first or second choice (maybe third choice) but I am sick of this nonsense. Did Fred Thompson’s kids join the military? What about Rudy’s? I believe that John McCain does have a son in the military so I guess if we use your lousey reason for electing a president than:
JOHN MCCAIN WILL BE THE NEXT PRESIDENT
OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
I hope this shows your post is just dumb.
I have four sons.
I certainly would have been proud and encouraged them if any of them to join any branch of our great military
Three of them would have served under that SOB TRAITOR Bill Clinton, so I can't half blame them for not being too ready to join
My brother re-enlisted within days of 9/11. I know of 3 young men who this past year who joined the Marines. Of the four, 2 had graduated from college, one left college where he had an academic scholarship, the fourth was out of HS for a year. Not one enlisted for the benefits. Some people have a hard time believing that there are true patriots and warriors, that are selfless. Especially in this me, me, me society. My sons are in their teens, still in HS and there are quite a few who plan to join the military. My own son goes back and forth with it. And we are NOT poor, ignorant southern white folks with no opportunities.
Debating? Perhaps it could be called sanctimonious navel gazing.
