Even that berthing arrangment is amazing. I guess the reduced crew requirments on these newer warships make this kind of thing possible?

I doubt that they will be asked to work as much and as hard as the men. Also, they can cry harassment whenever PMS rears its ugly head. Also, they will get free time off when they become pregnant. Also, the men won’t be able to swear around them.

The Daring has a helicopter. Ideally you have the helicopter take the torpedo to the submarine and not wait until it's close enough to fire a torpedo at it. Flight I Burke's do not carry one, so their need for the torpedo is greater. Like the Darings, Burke class don't carry Harpoons although they do carry Tomahawk cruise missiles. Both ships are designed to specialize in air-defense. The Darings seem to be as capable as the Burkes in that respect, but with better accomodations. Why is that a problem to people?

Arrrr, matey! I's all fer the amenities, having spent a four years' hitch on a ship whose keel was laid in 1943. Life at sea is BORING. In the 70's we had paperbacks, training manuals, and once a night whatever gawdawful movie the replenishment ship sent over. The Filipino vampire movies were sought after...some skin in there...

I say more power to 'em. Anything that helps keep the crew alert is worth the expense. Maybe they can find those Filipino vampire movies on DVD...

“Its principal anti-missile system protects a fleet from every air threat, including swarms of small, supersonic, wave-skimming anti-ship missiles.’

Those would be Yakhont and Sunburn anti-ship missiles. Excellent news, if true. China is buying Sovremny destroyers from Russia. These destroyers can be equipped with these missiles which have the potential of area denial to warships.

If the UK can defeat them, I’m figuring the US has the capability, too.

Well you and I would want to be on the Queen's personal vessel, then , wouldn't we?

Point taken, royal celebrations do allow grog, but too bad each ship does not carry the many Jamaican Hogs Heads full of rum, they way they used to, when crews would not work without it daily.

Lambs Navy Rum , 160 proof. I do like the stuff!

Only the women equipped ships will have the latest missile defence ordnance. The fighting men only ships will be less politcally correct and will have a subsequently low er priority. I can see the politics now.

It will be the same in the USA , if Hildabeast becomes president.

Britains armed forces are well on the way to becoeing a somoetimes armed peace corps, and the US needs to fight to prevent the same from happening here.

Which is one reason among others that the British Government drummed down the Scottish Regiments through "amalgamation." Their combat traditions would not allow for an evolution towards a "peace corps" style British military.

This approach has the British troops in Basra literally in dismay, as their senior intelligence officers and others for an exodus line away from the British military.

Woe be Britain if its Navy and Armed Forces need to fight a ground war to stop an invasion. They will die by their thousands in the blood choked dismay, of the Royal British Peace Corps that is now coming to Old Blighty.

Thanks Mr. Brown. Ye Should be keel hauled and spread out on a beach in NorfolK with a silver fork in your laddie to keep ye from wigglin' as ye dry.

A Pox on Mr. Brown and the Commie horse he rode in on, and on all its foul scat, which will poison the very water of British Freedom, Aye, and that of Scotland as weel.

You’d have to factor in scenarios where the Helo is inactive.

You factor in likely scenarios.
