I confess to having a Cole Haan leather duffle bag. :)

My Iowan grandmother doesn’t know Gucci from Hush Puppies or Nikes.....but she knows all about co-sponsoring laws that infringe on 1A rights by imposing blackout periods on free speech.

Did you Iowan grandmother ever make a mistake? Did she ever own up to it and admit to the world that it was a mistake?

Anyway, the point is, buying quality when you can afford it is worth the expense in the long run.
Pay cheap, pay twice!

A line from Gladiator comes to mind.

"I don't pretend to be a man of the people, but I try to be a man for the people."

This is a good article that speaks to something we see a lot of in politics, such as the pictures of JohN Kerry on this thread. Wouldn't it have been better if Romney, for example, rather than running out and joining the NRA and pretending to be a lifelong hunter, simply said "I don't hunt, I don't even like hunting, I don't even own a gun, but I support a citizen's right to keep and bear arms because it is a God-given right guaranteed by the Constitution." I would feel much more confident that my rights are being protected by a President who said that than by one who simply says he's a "sportsman", and "understands sportsmen's issues".

Do politicians really think we, the voters, don't think we can be represented by anyone who doesn't look like we do, talk like we do, and do the same things we do? It's just like the liberal notion that a white Congressman can't be trusted to represent black constituents.

No, my grandmother is the only infallible person ever known. /sarcasm

I know one thing about her, though. Other than infringing on my speech with a slap whenever I deserved it, she has never been a member of a branch of the government, has never infringed on 1A rights as a member of the government, and is not asking me to vote for her to have that power again.

“I, ElectricStrawberry, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.....”

I took and still take my oath very seriously (I’m sure you did/do as well....thank you for your service BTW) and I expect my elected leaders to do the same and will do everything legal and within my power to stop those elected officials that do overtly infringe upon Constitutional rights....”overtly” being the operative term....from ever holding office again. It’s not like one needs the USSC to interpret that law in some way inconsistant with the Author’s intent to come up with the infringement ruling. Blackout periods on free speech, especially political free speech, is as clear-cut as it gets.

How many other rights can Fred infringe upon, so long as he says “Oops...my mistake” afterwards? (Not a “cheating on my wife” mistake......a clear “violation of oath of office” mistake)

Take away your firearms? “Oops...my bad...shouldn’t have done that...will you please vote for me to have that power again?”

Infringe upon your religious freedom? “Oops...my bad...shouldn’t have done that...will you please vote for me to have that power again?”

Believe it, or not, people wear Gucci loafers in Iowa. The Iowa State Fair is in the capitol city of Des Moines, home to more insurance company home offices than any other city in the United States. People wear Gucci and other designer footwear in Des Moines and other parts of Iowa. Most folks in Iowa ARE NOT farmers!!

Note to self: You already had your coffee, dumkopf, so why did you mispell two words above?

LOL. "Misspell" has two S's.

The Spell button is our friend. Someone (JohnRob, I'm guessing) went to a lot of trouble to put it on the Posting Comment page. :-)
