"Jimmy Justice" shoves his camera in the face of a New York City parking enforcement officer who left her car in front of a fire hydrant. He starts filming and he taunts her.
"You're supposed to be enforcing the law, and here youre breaking the law," he says with all the outrage he can muster after his camera caught her shopping at a drug store while parked by the hydrant. "What do you have to say for yourself?"
She rolls up the window and drives away, but not before offering the traditional New York single-fingered farewell wave.
Jimmy Justice -- he keeps his real name a secret for obvious reasons -- stalks New York streets looking for official parking cheaters to film. Finding them never takes long. Justice talked to MSNBC.com as long as we promised not to reveal his identity.
"Writing summonses is not about public safety; it's about revenue, says the vigilante. These people are tax collectors. It makes the whole system into a big joke when they violate laws."
(He also appeared Friday morning on NBC's Today show..)
If you've ever seen a cop break the law with seeming impunity, you'll cheer Jimmy Justice when you find his video clips on YouTube. The confrontations are irresistible. ("I'm good at pushing other people's buttons," the 36-year-old budding filmmaker says.)

They’ve abused their powers like this for years. This isn’t the first incident of illegally parked cops who flaunt it that I personally know of.
Obeying the law is for the little people, don’t ya know.
What do you wanna bet some policemen have bumper stickers on their real cars that say “I speed when I’m off duty”?
If the only way cops were abusing the power of the badge were by ignoring parking ordinances, we’d be in much better shape.
bump
On some level, I really don’t give a sweet crap. There’s no profession in the country aside from one where getting shot at is part of the job. I’m willing to let both cops and soliders park wherever they like. How about we pull some of those passes they give to the ragheads at the UN and give them to veterans?
This is great.
Three cheers for this guy. He’s proving that there are two sets of laws in this country, one for the elite and one for the unwashed masses.
Harassing meter maids, wow.
Yup, there’s two Americas. One for those who have connections through their money, political positions, and/or law enforcement. They don’t have to wait in line, pay tickets, and get a nearly-free ride when they’re caught doing something. Then there’s the sucker America for the rest of us scrubs who have to pay their traffic tickets, wait in the long line at the airport, and get treated like crap when devoting several hours renewing car license plates.
I guess they're expected to abuse it, but must not "over-abuse" it.
It’s good to be elite.
Oh no, another Michael Moore
A lot of the worst drivers in my area are cops. Pull all kinds of crap when they aren’t responding to things that would get them pulled if they were a regular Joe. They also tend to go substantially over the speed limit.
What annoys me is the hypocrisy of handicapped parking spots. There are handicapped spots everywhere, even where no sane wheelchair-bound person would venture and us law-abiding folks dutifully refrain from parking there. So other able-bodied people use the spots either because they don’t care about the law or they’ve gamed the system to get the sticker so they can park in the handicapped spot even though they aren’t handicapped (their deceased grandmother was handicapped or they once had a bad back or they know the right bureaucrat).
I have no problem allowing people who truly need it a place to park closer to the entrance but, far too often, the spots are being taken either by cheaters or people who are just disregarding the law altogether. Meanwhile, us honest people are forced to park further away from the door regardless of heat, cold or storms.
Handicapped parking has become like a caste system where the privileged can park there while those who haven’t gamed the system must park elsewhere.
Some funny videos. Looks like he is going after the NYPD traffic cops which are just glorified meter maids. JJ was really screaming at one meter maid who was parked at a F/hydrant while a fire truck was trying to get to it.
Cops talk about themselves like they’re F-14 test pilots risking life and limb every day. Working at a 7-Eleven, driving a taxi cab, and working construction are far more dangerous jobs.
Frankly, I’m sick of hearing cops glorify their jobs as if the rest of us are just sloths that deserve to get slapped around. I’ll give you the universal cop saying, “There are two types of people: cops and a**holes.”
Maybe you should sign up. I hear that internet tough guys make good cops.
And you'd prove his point quite nicely as his video of the incident gets "lost in evidence".
