"Wow, a road actually requires land to build on. Thanks for the insight."

A lot of time, they'll build roads on land with no people on it or purchase it. But they're planning to just sieze it via the power of government. Is that now a conservative value?

Eminent domain has been with us since the dawn of governance.
The 5th Amendment ensure no takings without due process, and BTW they do not just seize it, there is compensation in all such cases.

The conservative value is to keep any such taking to its essential purpose only, which includes road-building.
Conservatives have protested Kelo and are restricted eminent domain where we can.

Texas Republicans and Rick Perry did the right thing and passed bills protecting property rights in these cases.
