The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's office has confirmed the body of Greg Jolstad, 45, of Mora, has been recovered from the site of the 35W bridge collapse.
The recovery brings the total number of confirmed deaths, and recovered victims, to 13. No more victims are believed to remain in the wreckage of the collapse.

And now the bridge will be removed from the river and new construction will begin.
Maybe instead of dreaming up ways to waste more money on this multi billion dollar boondoggle, Hennipen County should be spending the money to fix it’s other bridges?
RIP to the I-35 bridge collapse victims. It was amazing that there weren’t even more, including that school bus full of kids!
Sympathies to the families. Considering how many were on the bridge at the time it could have been much higher.
“Is that confirmed or are they going to screw around since the fat cats in Hennipen Country want the bridge redesiged to carry Light Rail?”
This would be the same Interstate 35 as in Texas, yes? I forget, how many lanes wide will it be, and what kind of 18-wheeler license plates are to be seen on it traveling from Mexico to the US and Canada......
Whole lotta hocus-pocus going on these days, I think.
Governor signals openness on light rail for interstate bridge
My above link was meant for you, MN :)
That is one of the things that irritates me about Pawlenty. He is enitrely too easy going. But I guess to be a red Gov in a blue state, he got to dance this dance. Same way he came out and said the gas tax was on the table. But will wait to judge him on what he does, not just on what he says.
He's certainly had me scratching my head on occasion...
But will wait to judge him on what he does, not just on what he says.
Very good advice :)
Thank you God for finding the lost.
The powers that be in this state are horrible about this. They are so arrogantly determined to “force people out of their cars” they keep building roads that are obsolete before they are even finished.
Unfortunately we have all ready spent over $ 2 billion of State and Federal dollars on a Light Rail line up here. It really is going to be for a Light Rail line if they build it this way.
I rather like that about Pawlenty it really disarms people when you at least listen to what they have to say..
You know, you are right. Guess I have been spending too much time in "Politics is easy" Talk Radio land. Forget it is easy to talk tough when you don't have to do anything to back your talk up.
On a positive note, if the bridge were to be entirely dedicated to light rail, no one will be injured if it were to collapse...
Maybe then they would build it so it would be useful instead of built all ready obsolete.

What do you mean “already obsolete”?
Trust in this - The bridge will be completely rebuilt, the “light rail” will expand to freight-class rail; and since they’re at it, 5 traffic lanes and wide shoulders going each direction since soon there will be heavy traffic heading to and from messico/US/Canada.
Further, it might evolve to a new bypass around town with the heavy-duty bridge crossing the river at a place to keep all the freight trains and trucks out of might be deemed advantageous......just my admittedly cynical opinion here. No way are you going to get a new bridge that merely replaces the old one!
Badabing! :-)
Then in each project their is always some choke point or bad design point (i.e narrow bridge requires one lane to be pinched out forcing the traffic into too few lanes, bad clover leaf designs that force traffic into the high speed lanes right at the bottom of the on ramp instead of giving them an acceleration/deceleration lane and then they should divided those A/D lanes from the high speed lanes with a concrete barrier, limited line of sight which creates a choke point, too many on ramps rather then extensive use of frontage roads etc) The results are the roads we build are effectively obsolete the day they are open.
The only reason I can come up for this structural and regular incompetence in road design is politics. This way road congestion remains sever year after year and they have an endless excuse to shovel billions into useless “mass transit” schemes.
Don’t worry.....somebody else will take this one over:
“The idea is to extend the rebuilt I-35 NAFTA super-corridor highway all the way from Laredo, Texas, to Canada, with extensions in Canada to be built out to Montreal in the east and Vancouver in the west. In Mexico, the super-corridor will connect via Mexican railroads with the port at Lazaro Cardenas.”

“”NAFTA Superhighway” - As of late, there has been much media attention given to the “new, proposed NAFTA Superhighway”. NASCO and the cities, counties, states and provinces along our existing Interstate Highways 35/29/94 (the NASCO Corridor) have been referring to I-35 as the ‘NAFTA Superhighway’ for many years, as I-35 already carries a substantial amount of international trade with Mexico, the United States and Canada. There are no plans to build a new NAFTA Superhighway - it exists today as I-35.”
