Books aren’t a luxury item. Maybe new hardbacks are a luxury item but anybody that actually gets books to read knows how to get them cheap. Friends of the library, walk out with two full tote bags and change for your 20.

I have a weakness for the library book sale dollar bag days. And Half Price Books is like a crack house. But if pulpy SF is your passion, you have to seek out the dingiest, out-of-the-way paperback exchange you can find. You will not be disappointed by the treasures found therein.

Having the time to invest in a book is considered a luxury in the same way that having time to go to the gym is considered a luxury.

Exactly! Last year we walked out of the local library book sale with 3 bags full of wonderful history books, biographies, etc. for about $20.

My idea of a good time is haunting antique book stores for PPC (pre-political correctness) era books of any kind.

I love their feel, I love their smell and I love the sustenance they provide.

This naturally helps me advance in life by reading self improvement books, as well as technical and career books.

Also "Half Price Books," although I spend more time waxing nostalgic with all the old vinyl LPs when I'm there.
