Nobody seems to have made the point that Darfur would not be a peace keeping job. It would be to put down genocide against opposition by irregular forces armed, supplied and directed by a government.

As a UN job with deference being paid to African sensitivities, it would not have ROE sufficiently robust to enable it to succeed.

It would be Rwanda on stereoids.

It would be mission creep ab initio.

The butcher's bill would be much bigger than the Afghanistan job.

Premier Jean Charest offered a spirited defence of the mission, even
though support in the province has consistently rated as the
weakest in Canada.

That is, in political terms, "beau geste". (pardon me if I botched
the French).

Mr. Charest said all of Quebec mourns Pte. Longtin and honours him.

And so do real Americans that have heard of this sacrifice.

Of course, we can't expect our commercial networks in our "Due South"
area that are full of "BIAS" to tell us how things are going with
Allies in this war on terror/radical Islam.
