With the demographics, most of Southern Calfornia would say split the into Northern California, and Northern Mexico.

There was a proposal about 15 or 20 years ago to divide California into 3 states. I think I learned about it from The Wall Street Journal's editorial page. Somehow nothing came of it. Of course the politicians in California, especially at the state level, have an interest in keeping the state unified.

I say cut the state apart at the peak of the coastal mountains, thus keeping LA and SF in one state, and the Central Valley in the other state. Then they can figure out where to get water from because we would CHARGE BEAUCOUPS BUX THEM FOR IT!
