Bloomberg won't run for president
Herald Sun ^ | 22 August 2007

NEW York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he cannot win the US presidency and won't run, the strongest statement to date about his intentions for the 2008 presidential race.

Mr Bloomberg previously had said he had no plans to run, which failed to quiet speculation that he was planning an independent bid for the White House.

In an interview with Dan Rather of HDNet television to be aired today, Mr Bloomberg was asked if he was running and if he was going to run for president. He answered "no" to both questions.

He refused to categorically rule out any future run, then said: "The answer is 'No' ... If somebody asks me where I stand, I tell them. And that's not a way to get elected generally. Nobody's going to elect me president of the United States."

Why not run? I’m guessing he got into politics in the first place because he has more money than god and knows he can’t take it with him... so why not try to purchase the White House just to keep boredom at bay?

Alas, between them Bloomie and Corzine shattered the ancient cultural taboo we Americans used to have about ultra-rich men brazenly buying their way into public office.

Not running... That’s too bad. I was hoping he’d split the vote with Hillary (and if ti comes to that, with Guiliani) leaving room for a conservative.

"Nobody's going to elect me president of the United States."

Michael Bloomberg is a politician who can handle the truth.

I still see the “Unity ‘08 Party” creating a Presidential ticket. Why exist at all if they won’t eventually create a Presidential ticket for the ‘08 elections, even if it doesn’t include Michael Bloomberg?

Without Bloomberg in the race, it is going to be very hard for Hillary! Rodham (Clinton) to win, unless she can find another self-financing, megalomaniacal, nominally-Republican, delusional Billionaire to run. And megalomaniacal, nominally-Republican, self-financing, delusional Billionaires are somewhat rare.

Two words: Ron Paul.

He’s the Dems’ ace in the hole. Paul is on good terms with the Libertarians and his policy fits in lock-step with the Constitution Party. One of the two, if not both, will endorse him. Name recogniton? He’s got it, unlike previous LP/CP candidates. Money? As much as the “nutroots” will give him. Publicity? See every poll that’s been spammed in favor of Ron Paul.

The plot is for Paul to draw off the faction of disillusioned GOP voters just enough to overcome Hillary’s huge negatives and propel her big backside into the White House... again.

Two words: Ron Paul.

That is why we must mock him at every opportunity.

Ron Paul is a moron.
