MSNBC's Hall Defends CNN's 'God's Warriors': Christians, Jews Could Turn Violent Like Muslims

Mika Brzezinski might be taking a break from "Morning Joe," but the show hasn't missed a liberal beat with her replacement. Tamron Hall today seemed to suggest that Christians and Jews could be next to emulate Muslim terror tactics.

At 6:35 A.M. EDT today, talk turned to the CNN series "God's Warriors," a classic exercise in moral equivalence. Hosted by Christiane Amanpour, the series focuses on extremists in Christianity, Judaism and Islam.

Earlier today, Hall had watched the segment on Jewish extremists. Scarborough called CNN on its moral relativism.

JOE SCARBOROUGH [Note: speaking very much tongue-in-cheek]: I'm sure we're going to find that there are Jewish and Christian organizations, international terror networks, that are set on the destruction of entire civilizations as we find in the Muslim world.

That's when Hall began to rise to CNN's defense.

View video here.

TAMRON HALL: I think they were careful. They kept bringing in the Muslim aspect of it. They're trying, they're fighting a delicate dance here. You know that, because they know that people like you are ready to say "are you insane?, what's going on here, the terrorists . . ."

SCARBOROUGH: The way they're promoting this, they're promoting this as "God's Warriors." And there is a moral eqivalency argument here, that somehow there's extremism in all religions, and somehow it's all equal. It is the Rosie O'Donnell argument that we should be just as nervous with Christian extremism as Muslim extremism.

HALL: I don't think that's what they're implying. I don't think that. I can't speak for . . .

SCARBOROUGH: It's certainly what it looks like in the advertisements.

A bit later:

SCARBOROUGH: There is a big, big difference between me believing that Scientologists don't have the way to heaven, and me going out and blowing up Scientology centers. And that right now is what separates Muslim extremists from Christian and Jewish extremists.

That's when Hall took her argument one giant step further . . .

HALL: But is it fair to ask the question "how long does that separation exist?" Because you never know who the next [terrorist] group [will be]. I'm not saying that [a few additional unintelligible words]."

It sure seemed that you were.

ASIDE: Her defense of CNN aside, Hall, who often mentions her Texas Bible Belt background, comes across affably. In a surfeit of sensitivity, she repeatedly spoke of "Jewish people" rather than "Jews." It's OK, Tamron, we're happy to be called "Jews." You Christian people should feel free to do so ;-)

Dear Editor:

I fought in Afghanistan as a Special Forces Team Commander. I am also what you would perceive as a “wacky-right-wing-conservative-religious-person”

So here are the differences between myself and the Taliban.

The Taliban allowed no freedom of expression, no rights for women, no freedom of religion and destroyed anything and everyone that did not abide by their version of Islam. They destroyed the famous Buddhist statues of Bamiyan because the felt they were un-Islamic graven images. The wiped out entire peoples and villages (such as the Hazara) because they were not Islamic enough. They would think nothing of executing an entire village if one family converted to Christianity. They cut the ears, eyes, tongues and noses off people for “infractions against Islam.” They turned schools into horse stables. They planted bombs and mines in children’s play fields. They torched newly built girls schools. They stoned women to death who had been raped for “adultery.” They allowed the training of terrorist groups to export their version of Islam to the world. They looked at the world as two spheres – One that has been conquered by Islam and one that will be conquered by Islam through war. They would think nothing of raping your wife and children and making you a slave or corpse. It is what you and your family, or any non-Islamic person, deserves for being an infidel. They would not allow women (and girls) to go to school, have a job or even leave their home (unless accompanied by a male relative). The Taliban ruled by fear and intimidation. They remind me of the Nazis and Communists.

What do the so called religious conservatives in this country want? Here is the super secret list: Economic Opportunity and Personal Liberty.

Things like: Taxes we can afford; A reverence for the US Constitution as the Founding Fathers wrote it; An appreciation for the values and traditions that made this country the finest in the history of the world; A respect for all opinion, not just what is the PC flavor of the month; An understanding that people should “not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character;” And respect for life (no matter how vulnerable or powerless).

The differences are slight, but there they are. I hope this clears up any misunderstandings.

De Oppresso Libre,

Liberals will only sign up to the Global War on Terror when it can be used as leverage to eliminate ALL religion from public view.

Sinners want no standards held up, which might indicate their choices are wrong.
No guilt, no consequences, no standards.

The MSM is circling the wagons because they know even the nonpolitical, church goer will see right through the bias.

JOE SCARBOROUGH [Note: speaking very much tongue-in-cheek]: I'm sure we're going to find that there are Jewish and Christian organizations, international terror networks, that are set on the destruction of entire civilizations as we find in the Muslim world.

What a sickening SOB. I will have to refrain from spitting at my TV every time I surf past that sorry excuse for a human being. Perhaps I will just delete the channel off my TV.

Okay - Ms. Hall and CNN, prove your speculative reasoning - give us the cold hard facts about all the Baptist, Methodist and Mennonite and Reformed congregations out there secretly planning terrorist attacks at the mall. Give us all the details.

Oh, there aren't any? You don't say.

Sorry, I just read the quote and missed the context. I don’t care for Joe that much, but thought he really went off the deep end. My bad.
