For me, the really dishonest thing is the way that this entire process is back channeled and quasi governmental with -0- oversight.

The Congress is frozen out and the Dept of Commerce and private industries are basically doing all of the moving and shaking, a federal beareaucracy can change it’s rules to be more in line or accomodating with both Canadian or Mexican rules and there is nothing that can be done to change that except for offering “public commentary”.

For example, when a Spanish comapny buys a highway in Indiana, that is an intrastate matter, the fact that the highway will eventually link up with the Trans Texas Corridor is a private business matter but the rules for connecting the highways, and who can use it, are being run from the Dept of Commerce with -0- Congressional Oversight.

And the legal Authority for all of this to happen is not derived from Stature, but rather by Executive Orders, which are like binding law “if” they are not repealed by an action of the Congress to repeal an Executive Order.

It’s lawmaking in the shadows and I don’t care for it one darn bit.

Diplomacy is in the hands of the executive branch. The only oversight Congress gets (and should get) is to ratify treaties in the Senate.

Did you catch that? Let me say it again:

Treaties are ratified by the Senate.

Nothing involving an eeeeevil North American superstate will come to pass without it getting through Congress and the swarms of W-haters therein first.
