FORT LAUDERDALE - Mayor Jim Naugle and religious leaders held a news conference Tuesday to draw attention to what they described as the moral and health risks of gay sex.

Naugle is in a political war with gays that started this summer when he said public bathrooms in Fort Lauderdale are plagued by gay men cruising for sex and added he uses the term "homosexual" because "most of them aren't gay. They're unhappy."

At a news conference Tuesday in front of City Hall, Naugle and other conservative speakers called on gays to stop having promiscuous sex, in order to stem Broward County's HIV/AIDS crisis.

This is just part of the onging homosexual radicals protecting sex in public rest rooms on the beach.

I find it interesting that an AIDS activist is defending the practice of indiscriminate sex.

“This is unacceptable!” shouted Broward resident Michael Rajner, president of Campaign to End AIDS. “You’re using the Bible as a weapon against the community!”

Rajner, 36, said he contracted HIV in New York and has lived 12 years with AIDS.

“You are demonizing AIDS!” he shouted.

“Every hate crime that comes out of here is at your feet!” shouted Anthony Niedwiecki, who helped form a group called Unite Fort Lauderdale last month in the wake of the mayor’s comments.

All this because Naugle wants to stop homosexual sex in public restrooms in a county that has very high rates of AIDS.

The bias of the article is beyond the pale.

The fact is religion is unneeded to object to the homosexual lifestyle.

The article is spun as a mere Religion vs Sick People.

This activist gets federal and state monies in order to PROMOTE(!) anonymous sex in public rest rooms?

That wasn’t the issue that was being discussed. There was no need to address it.

The State Police in MA are no longer allowed to roust Gays involved in group sex at Rest Stops because a judge said that public group sex is part of Gay Culture.

The policy is accrobatics neutral.

As the Mayor said in a previous post here on FR. There were no complaints about anonymous normal sex in public rest rooms. In other words, it does not exist (or nobody is complaining).

Keep in mind this public sex in bathrooms was actually part of a DIRECTORY advertising towards the homosexual practitioners. There is no “heterosexual anonymous public sex in stinky bathrooms” directory.

Either way you point is not relevant because only the homosexuals’ AIDS activist is seeking to protect indiscriminate high risk sexual acts in public restrooms.

To be opposed to people having sex in public, regardless of who is doing it, is not a particularly religious matter, even when advocated by a pastor - it’s common sense and a defense of common decency, even by most any basic “secular” standards.

Any “gay community leaders” defense of people having sex in public is as dangerous to their own “community” as is acceptance of promiscuous sex (by anyone) and particularly when that acceptance includes blatant disregard toward the the use of condums by non-monogamous partners - even if HIV was not around.

The Mayor should be supported in his effort, regardless of whether or not there could be any political ambitions in his motivations - common decency is common decency, period.

and therein lies the fascinating part of this debate.

The homosexual advocateas especially these AIDS activists could have had a complete PR coupe by joining the Mayor rather than fight him. It would have been something to support their argument of “just like you” they keep pushing.

The fact they took the total opposit tack just screams “NOT like normal people.”

News story on this....

Florida mayor stands firm on family values, fends off criticism
Allie Martin

The mayor of Fort Lauderdale is standing firm in his conservative beliefs, despite being hammered in the press and by homosexual activists. For one thing, they don’t like the fact that the mayor plans to crack down on illegal sexual activity in public.

This summer, Fort Lauderdale Mayor Jim Naugle said installing single-occupancy restrooms at local beaches would deter homosexual activity. Also, the mayor voted against relocating a homosexual library on public property. Since making these decisions, the mayor has endured public criticism from homosexual activists and their supporters.

Mayor Naugle says the reaction by homosexuals shows the danger of proposed hate crimes legislation.

“There are websites ... identifying different locations in my city that are available for men to have sex with men,” says Naugle. “I spoke out against that — and this is a good example of the dangers of the hate crimes legislation, because I’ve been [accused of] hate speech and [called] a bigot and all kinds of things.” He adds that he finds it “really amazing” that speech against illegal activity is labeled as hate speech.

Naugle, who is in his sixth and final term, says the city has become known as the most dangerous place in the nation for men, citing statistics that show one in five homosexual and bisexual men in the city are HIV positive. Consequently, he argues, the city must crack down on same-sex illegal and illicit activity in public areas.

The mayor asserts that he bases his decisions not on political correctness, but on what is best for all Fort Lauderdale residents — the majority of whom, he says, support conservative, family-friendly values. “If we love the homosexual and want them to be safe and secure, then we should say that this activity is absolutely wrong, and just say no to it going on,” states Naugle. “And we have been making arrests in our parks now, and it’s something that we’re going to continue to clean up.”

Naugle will leave office in 2009 and plans to work in real estate and help his wife, who is a judge, with her re-election campaign.
