Major General Joshua Chamberlain, of Gettysburg fame, died in Feb. 1914 from a wound he suffered in 1864 during the Battle of Petersburg.

While it is rare to die of such old injuries, it is not unheard of. If you have to convict the guy on charges of murder, sentence him to time served and let him go.

That rookie cop was a parapalegic for forty years.
Charge the p.o.s. shooter with murder and put him back in prison where he should have been all along.

I’m inclined to agree. There is no way to prove that the man’s life wouldn’t have ended in the same amount of time anyway. If the guy paid the price for the shooting, then it’s done.
