Defeatist Dems Sing Same Song, Different Key

The Democrats' latest ploy of shifting the goal posts to dampen Gen. Petraeus's anticipated report of military successes in Iraq by emphasizing the slow progress on the political side makes it increasingly hard to deny they are working for defeat at all costs.

From Sens. Carl Levin, to Dick Durbin to Hillary Clinton, Democrats who have been on the front lines forecasting our military defeat in Iraq are now scrambling to repackage their message -- retrospectively.

Upon returning from Iraq, Levin grudgingly conceded the surge was working, but quickly diluted his positive assessment with negative assurances to his party's antiwar base that political progress was lagging. Hillary Clinton agrees we're making headway militarily, but not soon enough, and certainly not politically, so we must begin to withdraw -- now.

But Democrats haven't been rooting for political success in Iraq either. Remember their underwhelming reaction to the landmark January 2005 elections, when millions of Iraqis risked their lives to vote? Democrats refused to be pleased, complaining that too few Sunnis participated.

Yo Dems...if you don’t want to stand behind our troops feel free to stand in front of them.

And kiss your Congressional majority goodbye in the coming election.

If we’re ever attacked by aliens from outer space, democrats are going to be on the aliens’ side. Anything to defeat the Great Satan.

The Democrats have done more to help terrorism than they have to stop it. Afterall, they don’t care about America’s future, present or past.

The first 4 years Clinton was in power it was Reagan’s fault. Then it has been Bush’s fault. IF they got elected it would still be Bush’s fault.

If America is successful in this war, then the Democrats will lose. With that kind of conflict of interest, you know which side they will err on. But I don’t think they really care at this point.

Just look at the last two Democrat Presidents — and their foreign policy success.

I can think of — NONE!!!

Failures:
1. Iran, pressed human rights against the Shah, not communist China, Russia, Nicaragua.
2. Gave away the Panama Canal by being intimidated by a tin horn dictator.
3. Communist Russia aggression in Afghanistan and Grenada, while Carter busily canceled the B-1 bomber.
4. Failed military operation in Iran, five American deaths and 8 aircraft lost.
5. Fifty-two American hostages held in Iran for 444 days, not released until the day Reagan took office.
6. An incredibly stupid grain embargo — cost USA big time.
7. Boycotted the Moscow Olympics.
8. Cut off aid to El Salvador, who was trying to counter Soviet aggression in Nicaragua.
9. When Carter kept price controls on oil, price was $14 per barrel when he came in, $35 when he left office.
10. WTC bombing 1993
11. Somalia fiasco — USA cut and ran.
12. Embassy bombings in Africa.
13. Khobar towers bombing in Saudi Arabia - USA didn’t do a thing about it.
14. Clinton sends Carter to North Korea, country continues unimpeded nuclear weapons program, get aid from USA in return.
15. Clinton uses Carter and Colin Powell in Haiti fiasco.
16. Kosovo — we were on the side of the Muslims, problems continue to this day because of it.
17. USS COLE bombing, despite warning by US Ambassador the port visit was a bad idea due to the terrorist threat. Overridden by drug czar Richard Clarke, ADM Zinni at CENTCOM and President Clinton.
18. Two ineffectual cruise missile attack as a “Wag the Dog” during height of Monica Lewinsky scandal.
19. Did not go after Osama Bin Laden when we HAD HIM IN OUR SIGHTS — helped along by Madeline Albright and Sandy Berger wimpiness.
20. Genocide in Rwanda one of the greatest since Nazi Germany extermination of the Jews (Clinton did absolutely nothing about it).
