I used to sit next to a guy in HS choir, he was a deep thinker, smart as a whip and a nerd too, nice guy.

He used to enjoy talking about ‘nothing’ and that there still has to be something. He probably is working in some sort of scientific field.

Actually their is study into nothingness and it pertains to what may have been prior to the big bang. In my extremely limited understanding, "nothing" is thought to be an unstable state in which the big bang could have arisen from.

“Nothing” is the absence of something, which qualifies it as a of being which is ~something~....:)
