08/22/2007 Kerry Statement on Bush Speech to the VFW

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 22, 2007 CONTACTS: Amy Brundage/Vincent Morris, 202-224-4159

BOSTON – Senator John Kerry (D-Mass.) today made the following statement in response to the speech today by President Bush to the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Kansas City, Missouri in which the President invoked comparisons to the Vietnam War to defend his war policy:

“Invoking the tragedy of Vietnam to defend the failed policy in Iraq is as irresponsible as it is ignorant of the realities of both of those wars,” Senator Kerry said. “Half of the soldiers whose names are on the Vietnam Memorial Wall died after the politicians knew our strategy would not work. The lesson is to change the strategy not just to change the rhetoric. We want democracy in Iraq, but Iraqis must want it as much as we do. Our brave soldiers can’t bring democracy to Iraq if Iraq’s leaders are unable or unwilling themselves to make the compromises that democracy requires. No American soldier should be sacrificed because Iraqi politicians refuse to resolve their sectarian and political differences.

“It is unfortunate that President Bush would want to invoke a false comparison of Vietnam to Iraq, but not surprising that he would oversimplify the differences and overlook the tragic similarities. As in Vietnam, we engaged militarily in Iraq based on official deception. As in Vietnam, more American soldiers are being sent to fight and die in a civil war we can’t stop and an insurgency we can’t bomb into submission. If the President wants to heed the lessons of Vietnam, he should change course and change course now.”

Dear Lord -

Thank you for sparing us this pompous, arrogant, blue-blood with an overarching sense of entitlement as President.

Invoking the tragedy of Vietnam to defend the failed policy in Iraq is as irresponsible

But when Democrats compare Iraq to Vietnam, it's OK. Go figure.

John F*ckin... the same man who in 1971 defamed American troops for political gain. Nearly 40 years later, the mode of thought from him is the same. Truly, the child is father to the man.

It does not matter what America thinks, it is what the Media think.

Why ELSE would anyone bring up the embarrassment of J.Carter all the time?

“Invoking the tragedy of Vietnam to defend the failed policy in Iraq is as irresponsible as it is ignorant of the realities of both of those wars,” Senator Kerry said.

Tragedy, failed policy, realities...The reality is that surrendering is a failed policy that led to the tragic(but 100% predictable)loss of life for millions of Cambodians, Laotians, and Vietnamese people. And no amount of tinkering with history will ever change that.

This is a serious wound for the RATS and their net roots allies. They are all going crazy.

Besides that the NYT, WaPo and LA Times all have major editorials telling Bush is either stupid or nuts.

Hey, Krugman of the NYT even wrote commentary claiming the Republicans are racist, etc. He relied on the Willie Horton thing again. No mention that Al Gore initiated the complaint when he ran against Dukakis nor that the Massachusetts legislature was so incensed they passed a bill taking away the Governor’s right to pardon such egregious offenders. Even better Dukakis swallowed hard and signed it. Competence you know!

MSM,RATS and net roots are all marching on orders from the DNC. Will it work? I think not.

...failed policy in Iraq....

Any policy that removes a brutal dictator's jack-boot from the necks of 26 million people is a "failed" one only in the eyes of extremely hard-hearted people.

Any policy that removes an avowed America-hater with access to billions in oil money, who could have clandestinely funded many more masacres like the one on 9-11, is not a failed policy.

We were attacked on 9-11 not from an abundance of hate but for an extreme lack of respect for the consequences. Any policy that shows the enemy that we are willing to stand and die to protect ourselves is not a failed policy.

Indeed it was.

The irony of Kerry speaking of the "tragedy" of Vietnam is his failure to list himself as one who had an instrumental part in creating a tragedy of that event and its aftermanth.

History repeats itself now with the tragedy he hopes to foist on the world with a world in flames that only a strong and firm progressive world socialist government can put right.

Hey LIP! Fellow Darth Airborne "Levinite" here!

Bush's VFW Sppech; Page 4, 3rd paragraph-WHAT is he talking about?

" The enemy who attacked us despises freedom, and harbors resentment at the slights he believes America and Western nations have inflicted on his people.

He fights to establish his rule over an entire region.

And over time, he turns to a strategy of suicide attacks destined to create so much carnage that the American people will tire of the violence and give up the fight.

If this story sounds familiar, it is -- except for one thing.

The enemy I have just described is not al Qaeda, and

the attack is not 9/11, and

the empire is not the radical caliphate envisioned by Osama bin Laden. Instead, what I've described is ....."

Instead...what I've deducted from this section of Bush's Speech is that he is Discribing ;

Today's Democrat Party!

----" They HATE Freedom, They Harbor Resentment of Those who are Conservative & Believe in this Nation running according to the U.S. Constitution, with LIMITED Gov't- instead of a Communist Manifesto that They would want to impose!

The Despise all others who hold a Conservative view or would serve in the Senate & Congress WITH Conservatives views,

They believe that AMERICA has instilled more harm to the World than Any Other murdering enemy ever has-and accuse Republicans of leading more evil against the American Citizen then any other Foreign Enemy has or ever could!

And: Over time, This Enemy: " The Modern Doemocrat party-would rather lead with actions of; leaking of National Security Secrets to our enemies and attacks against OUR Troops, and Surrender of Our Forces, gains and defenses which would be Suicide Attempts against our own National Interests & American lives!

And they Promote VIOLENCE thru their propaganda, Emotional Rheteric, and Back-alley funding of these extreme Anti-American Groups and their rallies like MovingOn & other Socialist & Anarchist Clubs! withh their strategies that they thinkthe AMERICAN PEOPLE will not only Believe their Lies but Get Tired of Hearing their constant promotion of stories that over-inflate what loses we have had-and chose to attempt to protray AMERICA & It;s Armed Forces as the Enemy of America INSTEAD of Al Qeada!

And- This "Enemy" -like Al Qeada, Promotes, Protects and allows FOREIGN SOURCES like ; the George Sorros & groups like him & United Nations front "peace" groups, the ACLU-to Support the Real Enemies against America , it's people and Future.

So I wonder IF Bush , in writing/giving this speech ,was aware of just how close he was discribing the Modern Democrat Party and their Manchurian-Candidate leaders like the ; Kennedys, Pelosi, Reid, Slimes, RINOS!, all of them!

I became convinced months ago that until America comes to grips with what the history and lessons of Viet Nam are we will never, as a nation, be able to successfully fight another conflict again. The ability of the MSM then, as now, to turn support for a conflict into apathy or non-support was a glimpse at our Achilles heel for any potential adversary. This administrations inablility and unwillingness to counter accusations ranging from the rediculous to treasonous will be it’s ultimate undoing. The 24 hour news cycle where bad news is trumpeted continuously appearing to make the same losses sustained earlier in the cycle to be perceived as additional losses renders realistic perspective difficult. So the nature of the news cycle in conjuction with what is being reported, legitimately or otherwise, tends to magnify the news. Mr. Kerry and his ilk totally ignore the fact that had they had a little more fortitude and patience we would have neutralized the NVA in a matter of months. But the Democratically controlled Congress, convinced by Kerry and his band, decided to defund the conflict, hand victory to the NVA, create thousands of refugees and a southeast asian holocaust by our leaving a power vacuum. Forty years later they’re at it again. When will Americans learn that wars are to be won, note abandoned when it gets difficult.

Kerry is really stuck on stupid.

Rubbing out Al Quaeda is in our interest. Now that both the sunni and shia have turned against Al Queda, what kind of gov that follows is up to the Iraqis.

Either way, Iraq will not have WMD. Mission accomplished.

CCR's Fortunate Son lyrics Excerpted

It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no senator's son
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one

Some folks are born silver spoon in hand,
Lord, dont they help themselves
But when the tax man comes to the door,
Lord the house looks like a rummage sale

It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no millionaire's son
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one

Some folks inherit star spangled eyes,
Ooh, they send you down to war
And when you ask them, "How much should we give?"
They only answer "More! More! More!"

Shut up John!
