Fred won’t even declare his candidacy. That is getting (for me) a bit tiring. It’s as if he doesn’t want it or have the fire in the belly.

“Romney lost me when he lashed out at the people who tried to save Terri Schiavo’s life”

“lashed out” that is way out there. Romney said he thought the congress should have stayed out of it and since the congress didn’t do diddly squat to save Terri, it turns out Romney was right.

He did not lash out at the people who tried to save Terri’s life.

I am a Romney supporter. Has he flip-flopped? Yes. But it seems that once a politician "sees the light" of conservatism they seldom revert back to their old ways. I don't think we will have to worry about Mitt "growing" while in office. And let's face it, Mitt should get the nomination simply by the process of elimination:

Rudy (wrong on so many issues)
McCain (PO'ed too much of the base especially evangelicals)
Fred (wrong on campaign finance, seems suspect on abortion beliefs, appears sluggish)
All others ( no money and/or little support).

So Mitt is the only one left standing. He is on the right side of the issues now, has the money, has shown he can move the polls, articulate, good resume, record of success, and looks sharp and alert.

That’s what I’m thinking. Who wants to be President? You have to really want to help the country. The pay isn’t great, the job satisfaction is ? and it seems like everyone’s against you.

Do you really think FT is up to that?

Fred has no strategy...it’s indecision plain and simple.

Its easy to be judgmental when its not your loved one with severe brain damage. Some people do recover, but not many. Its sad that Terry Schiavo became a political football for both sides of the life issue. I agree with Mitt that it was not right for Congress to assert themselves in the matter.

You aren’t alone, and as long as you know that, you know the fight is worth it to the end! ;o)

Pointy head?

Anytime, anywhere you feel you’re up to the challenge of debating/examining the foundations of Mitt’s complete farce of a religion, you just let me know.....if you’ve got the cashews for it.

Well I have lived on a farm too and as crap goes it is not all the same. Horse and Chicken poop makes great fertilizer for the garden, but dog poop is just poop.

If you think that voting for a candidate, as good a man as he may be, who can’t even get traction in his own state and therefore giving the Clintons 8 more years in the WH is good for the party and the Country then you are beyond help son.

I have never said this to anyone before on this site, but it is idealogically purist like you in both parties that are rending this Country at the seams. All or nothing always gets you nothing. The party got spanked in 06 and from what I am hearing they may have gotten the message, but Congress and the Senate is different than the WH. I vote every two years for a Duncan Hunter like candidate for representative and I am working hard to get rid of our old Rep. Senator who has outlived his conservative usefulness, but I will not turn the fortunes of the Country over to Marxists just so I can feel good about my conservative credentials. You are never going to get a candidate for president who will meet your conservative standards because that type of candidate would get crushed in the general election just as similar liberal candidates have for years. I for one don’t want to think of what type of nation I would be forced to live in after 8 years of Hillary in the WH, Ms Nancy and Harry Reid running an overwhelming liberal legistlature and courts filled with far left judges. You can boldly highlight all the words you want, but if that image doesn’t scare the hell out of you then you are either not very conservative or not very bright.

I don’t know if he up to it or not, I just question how badly he wants it. He said on Fox Sunday that he has never had a burning desire to be President he just thinks there are some thngs he wants do to for the Country that you almost have to be President to do. I am not sure that is enough and his unwillingness to join the fray causes me to worry about his desire.

I have a name for FT - “Pa Kettle.” Remember the t.v. show with Ma and Pa Kettle from the 1930’s - no I’m not that old, I’ve seen reruns.

Ma, if I remember, was full of piss and vinegar, while Pa was a sleepy kinda guy.

I remember one show where he was walking up the steps to the porch of their house and a loose board flew up and hit him in the head. He said, “I’m gonna fix that ... someday.” That’s what he said about everything, as he meandered over to his rocking chair, sat down and went to sleep.

I don’t know if “Pa Kettle” has the mettle to run. Whaddya think y’all?

I'm not your son, and I'm not afraid. I'm also finished with pissing people off about this subject and representing my faction, who (with the exception of a very few like myself) are usually silent. I won't participate in another thread like this. It's not performing any useful function for anybody.

Don't stoop to defining conservatism for us or calling me not very bright. It's offensive and pretentious.

Thompson just might be concerned his health...deep down inside; he may be more concerned about the toll the Presidency could take on his health and his family. To him; it just might not be worth it.
