The best way to authenticate the quotes is not to just rely on lists of RKBA quotes, which often include the bogus ones, but to go to scholarly sites containing only verified quotes by each founding father. For example, UVA has a site which catalogs all of TJ’s authenticated writings.

I don’t use gun or 2nd Amend. sites to verify *any* quotes, especially RKBA quotes. I go to actual “scholarly” or “quote” sites to verify them, which I have done with all the ones that I listed. However, I cannot say that either I or anyone else may not be mistaken.

I wouldn’t exactly use guncite.com, saf.org or hkweaponssystems.com to *disprove* any quote either, just as a geocities or angelfire webpage shouldn’t be used to prove or disprove *anything*. :^)

I have now noted that the “until they try to take it” Jefferson quote as questionable in my list, but I do see that several other “quote” or “scholarly” sites have it listed as valid - and it looks like guncite.com and saf.org have almost identical pages that claim (and link back to each other) that that quote is bogus. So I don’t know that *they* are the final arbiters, either.

But I will refrain from using it ‘til I get it *confirmed* as valid.

And one questionable, out of all of them, isn’t quite what I’d consider making “half” of them bogus. #8^D

But I do thank you all for your input.
