Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo, a strong critic of illegal immigration, says the director of the Border Patrol in Laredo, Texas, should be fired.
The Colorado Republican said Carlos X. Carillo's recent remarks in a town hall meeting "were diametrically opposed" to the Border Patrol's mission.
On August 15th, Carillo, speaking in Laredo, said the patrol's mission is not to stop illegal immigrants or criminals but to focus on terrorists and keep them from entering the country.

I agree with Toncredo on this. There are elements within the Border Patrol who don’t fully support their agents.

Gosh, can someone please pass this magic marker that this dude has? Because it’s gotta be incredible - able to tell the difference between an illegal alien and a criminal, both of whom are breaking laws, and a terrorist! He’s got some incredible talent. He should be promoted really, really high so that we can all take advantage of his new and unique abilities, or even better yet, send him to Iraq since he’s able to pick out any terrorist along a hundred mile section of border, without even encountering them!
The organization could stand to be gutted from mid management upward and replaced with men who understand the real mission and enforce it faithfully.
Create an actual functional Border Patrol and it will create the pressure for legislation to allow our borders to be protected and our national sovereignty respected.
Its not much different than Rooty’s plan to require illegals to carry a special ID card. I guess Rooty can tell who the illegals are because his plan don’t call for citizens to have one.
I think Romney endorsed a similar plan.
Apparently, Bush has not gotten his message across. Either that, or this is his message.

On August 15th, Carlos Carillo the director of the Border Patrol in Laredo, Texas, speaking in Laredo, said the patrol's mission is not to stop illegal immigrants or criminals but to focus on terrorists and keep them from entering the country. Carrillo is minimizing the need to stop all illegal immigrants which is outrageous. At this time when our borders are awash in illegal aliens to have a director of the border patrol make such an asinine statement can only mean that he has no intention of enforcing the laws of the United States an therefore should be fired.Your strong support for our laws has proven to me that you are serious about the enforcement of our border laws and the need to rid our country of persons here illegally. As always thank you for your diligence in this matter I remain. Sincerely yours (NAME)
That is because Real ID has been authorized(2005) and is now being implemented.
The citizens will need Real ID to enter the courthouse, fly, open a checking account, collect a SS check, and beginning in 2013, get a job.
They are in the union and can't be fired or demoted.
“They are in the union and can’t be fired or demoted.”
And there it is. A benifit to some, a bane to all else. Dept of Homeland Sec., FBI, CIA, etc etc. All loaded with deadwood that cant be cut away.
Another example of Orwellian “doublespeak.” Some illegals are more illegal than other illegals.
It seems many states have rejected the Real ID and refuse to go along with implementing it. Haven’t you been reading the articles about cities passing out ID cards to illegals and banks giving them credit cards?
Any ID plan that will work to cut down on illegals will have to be the same for everyone in the country to work.
If citizens of the US don’t need one then illegals without one of the cards would just say they were citizens and didn’t need one.
The ACLU and the liberal bed-wetters wont allow profiling and refuse to even go along with ID to vote.
Its a toothless program that will only work at legal US border crossings until the states agree to go along with it and require it for everyone. The illegals don’t cross at the legal check points.
