Ok, states’ rights and all that...anybody come right out and ask Haley what’s up with illegal immigration? It would seem something a resident of Mississippi would do.

I agree. Haley better come out strong against illegals, or those words you posted by Eaves in post #7 will sound mighty good to Mississippi voters.

People are just plain tired of the illegal problem and want some action taken to stop it.

Haley has done much good along the way, but the illegal issue is near the top of the list for many people.

What you say is true, but consider this. Isn't it a fact that because of the disaster from Katrina it is difficult to find housing there? I know construction people working down there--chiefly electricians, and they are making considerably more than 20.00 an hour. Also being furnished trailers to live in. I doubt if the unskilled are being offered that. If they have to find a place on their own and pay for it, 13.00 to 20.00 an hour would hardly be a living wage. Places to live are still at a premium.

On the subject of imports, I wonder how many of the casino workers are illegals. They have a huge foreign workforce.I'm wondering if the casino influence is making Haley keep a low profile on illegals. MS gets a lot of revenue from the casinos, and the ones in Vicksburg and near Memphis did not get hit. They just keep rolling along, like the old muddy Mississippi.

Why is John Arthur Eaves’ so familiar? Was his daddy a politician? I know the name. I love the pictures on his website where he’s at a construction site. heh.

I love Haley! (of course, I don’t get a vote since I’m not back home in Missippi, but I can love him from afar. :) )

Speaking of John Eaves, have you seen his most recent pandering commercial, calling for universal healthcare?

Where he likens himself to Jesus for healing the sick?
I usually mute it when he comes on.

HAHAHA! Now that you mention it, the final scene in the commercial does look a whole lot like this one!:

He is not looking for a “pass” he is looking out for us and this state. I am as anti illegal immigrant as anybody, but if our own labor force won’t get off its ass, where are you going to turn? At least the little bastards are willing to work.

If the coast was to wallow un-rebuilt, we would end up having to support 10s of thousands. Our economy would tank due to the load and reduced tax base.

I am sorry you have had bad experiences with our “non indigenous” Latin population, but don’t blame Barbour for the failures in education, the lousy American work ethic among the labor class due to entitlements and such and the fact the border is open. Get those things fixed and get back to me about Haley.

As far as keeping his job, Eaves has a snow ball in hell shot. If you want to vote for him over this one issue, vote for the “Democrat” who is running against Barbour by trying to be Barbour, go ahead.

The rest of us will look out for Mississippi...

Skilled labor is getting a premium on the coast. As far as housing, yes, there is the rub. These contractors are buying their own mobile units, not FEMA, and they are half full. That’s for skilled and unskilled. FEMA is also supplying trailers for laborers as well.

I have a buddy with a major contractor rebuild or building apartment complexes from Alabama to Louisiana. Materials are not the problem as it once was, he has enough to complete 4 project sitting right now. They are working on just two due to lack of workers. He has the resources to house twice the force he has. He won’t say how many imports there are, but its more than a few.

Now you know John is just a good old southern boy, God guns and family. Simple living at it’s best...

He is a Mississippi Big Dollar Attorney who wants a new hobby in downtown Jackson.

The only thing that links Eaves to that painting is what I say under my breath when I see him on TV...

What about as veep for Thompson?

No...Haley would be better as Pres. With Thompson as VP.

Thompson’s only usefulness to us is as our void filling frontrunner, if for some reason Barbour was the presidential nominee he could make a smarter choice for veep, (younger, wider ticket appeal, front runner status for the 2016 cycle).

LOL. That's certainly not much of a recommendation for President!

I'm ignoring Thompson until he takes the initiative to declare. He's a good talker...but so are most lawyers.

“”LOL. That’s certainly not much of a recommendation for President!””

Being on a conservative political forum I probably still said it too dryly, the point was that your suggestion of Thompson as veep didn’t make sense, he is about 65 for one thing, and his appeal to conservatives is only as President, not as a second banana for 8 years, that would be better filled with an eye to 2016.

Don't agree. Many VP's were not "groomed" for Pres. Better to just have a team that works well together for 4 or 8 years IMO.

Thompson's appeal only for President? Not necessarily. If a better candidate came along fickle conservatives would drop Thompson like a hot potato and accept him gladly in the #2 spot (especially if after he finally announces he makes one or two large gaffes which is more than likely).
