Jesse Jackson drops the "R" bomb on London ["reparations"]
American Thinker ^ | August 25, 2007 | Marc Sheppard

Posted on 08/26/2007 7:18:19 AM PDT by John Jorsett

After bullying London's mayor into apologizing for his city's role in the transatlantic slave trade more than two centuries ago, Jesse Jackson did what he does best - demand money.

At Thursday's memorial commemorating the 200th anniversary of the abolition of England's slave trade, Mayor Ken Livingstone was literally brought to tears as he apologized "on behalf of London and its institutions" for their role in ferrying human cargo to the New World.

If you've been paying attention to this charlatan's game, you won't be surprised to hear that the Guardian reported that "Jackson walked over and placed his arm around the mayor" as he delivered his wet-eyed contrition for the acts of those long dead before his great-grandfather was ever born.

Afterwards, in his classic mumbo-jumbo non-sequitur rhyme-speak, the man who put Hymie-town on the map praised Livingstone for breaking "important ground." A Kumbaya moment, indeed -- of course he then snatched the opportunity to demand that apologetic Londoners now break into their wallets and pay reparations for the sins of a few of their great-great-grandfathers.

Astounding - having thus far failed to bring his own country to its knees with similar liberal-guilt-exploiting strong-arm tactics (okay -- he's still working on it), the civil rights huckster now charges that modern Britain was also built on the ill-gotten gains of his oppressed people and that,
"We must not speak of the slave trade and slavery in past tense terms."
Of course not - this deplorable injustice, 200 years banned in Britain and 144 so in America, still delivers quite the flesh for leeches feeding on the blood and guts of their own people, doesn't it Jessie?  After all, it pays for your cars, your travel and your copious bling, doesn't it?

That's why the ever self-serving Jackson will never let go of this bogus trump card, and now seeks to upgrade it to platinum on the promise of pitifully unmerited reparations on the backs of the innocent.

In truth, the arguments against slavery reparations are so intrinsically overwhelming that they curtail any rational discourse on the subject.  As such, rather than reiterate them, I would refer you to David Horowitz's fine article, Ten Reasons Why Reparations for Blacks is a Bad Idea for Blacks - and Racist Too.

From the fact that only a very small minority of white Americans ever owned slaves to the reality of existing reparations in the forms of welfare and racial set-asides, Horowitz deftly covers all the bases.

And, though it's doubtful that Brits will have any more of this rubbish than its allies across the pond, one thing is certain.

While asking repentance is itself absurd, as no living person has ever been or owned an American slave, seeking recompense -- on any continent -- lowers the appeal to the level of Jackson's bread-and-butter MO - racial extortion.

“Is anyone apologizing for the mostly Irish slaves shipped to America as indentured servants!?”

Of course not.

They weren’t “people of color”

The Irish had a very hard row to hoe when they arrived here, as did The Italians, and a few others.

No one seems to want to remember any of that.

Also, I believe it’s a big mistake, and quite ignorant to be apologizing for things done before your great-great grandparents were born. It’s totally asinine.

One more- why doesn’t super jesse go to Africa and DEMAND they end their ACTIVE slave tade, and get an apology from them?

Oh. that’s right. He couldn’t milk them for any dough.

Go after these folks jesse, you worthless worm.

The only reason poverty pimps like Jackson want reparations is because they are planning on getting a big cut

Has Jackson apologized for mistresses kept on the taxpayer’s dole and little kids, out of wedlock, with missing black father(s)—thinking of one in particular.

I would have told harpo oprah to go to hell.

Of course, I wouldn’t have been there to start with.

Why doesn’t she investigate the real problem- Africa’s modern, ongoing slave trade? These people like oprah and jesse are just part of the problem, and they are nothing but slimy racists of the lowest order.

I strongly believe in reparations.

I think we should take the median income of all "African Americans" in the United States and subtract from that the median income of all blacks in Africa.
Then, divide that number in half and the American blacks should pay that sum into the Federal government as "reparations" for helping to get them out of the hell-hole that is Africa and into America.

Afterwards, in his classic mumbo-jumbo non-sequitur rhyme-speak...

"I announce the formation of an organization for the condemnation of the causation of harm to the African Nation by way of abdication for the purposes of subordination, and there-FORE, we demand immediate compensation and a continuation of capitulation for the misapplication of...hey, stop makin' fun of my proNUN-shaysun!"

I’ve just read a very sympathetic 20 year old bio on Martin Luther King written by an author named Taylor Branch.

The FBI phone taps on MLK’s lawyer revealed that MLK kept mistresses and the author’s invterviews with close King associates revealed his guilt over his “sin.”

Those taps were going on while MLK stayed in the NYC area during August 1963 just before “I have a dream.”

A federal judge sealed the files of the acutal tapping of MLK’s phone calls for 50 years in 1977.

So if Oprah is into Thomas Jefferson’s sex life when is she going to do MLK’s.

You can “call Jackson on this nonsense”. The problem is, he doesn’t care if you call it on him or not. He’ll just keep coming back and bring it up again. The more he can keep his people riled up, the more money he makes.

Only about 5% of ALL blacks taken from Africa during the slave trade came to North America. Yet, we take as gospel that we were the driving force behind the trade. About 80% went to South America and the West Indies.
Any talk of reparations should be directed at those who shipped and received them, proportionally.

Well, that mayor made one giant mistake. He had the best opportunity to make history by telling JJ to stuff it and high himself back across the pond where, BECAUSE of slavery, he was born in a country where he could become a millionaire instead of running around in the African Bush with the descendant cousins of Kunta Kinteh that Halley found when he went to visit his ancestral homeland of Gambia, on the African Coast. (Whew. 'catch my breath.)

(Maybe I'm looking at all wrong? Maybe I could make a fortune by going to England and shaking them down for what they did to my ancestors?) That is the site of the port where captive blacks were brought (captured and sold to the slavers BY BLACKS) and held until bought by the slavers. The white slavers didn't dare go into the country to capture blacks. Without the 'delivery system', they would've had no trade. It was a 50/50 trade arrangement between the African chieftains and the white traders. But when have we ever heard about the blacks part in this? (I'd wait for an answer, but, as a grandmother, I don't have enough time left.)

Now Gambia celebrates an annual "Homecoming Roots Festival" , per:

"The festival is open to all descendants of black Africans around the globe interested in returning to their “roots” This gives all The Gambians, separated for hundreds of years and thousands of miles, a unique opportunity to experience the life and the cultures of their nation"

So why doesn't JJ and his ilk take advantage of it - and move on over? (But first, JJ is missing a grand opportunity for a shake down of the prime source of the slave trade - in Gambia!)

My direct ancestors were harried out of England almost 400 years ago, after suffering years of persecution, arrests, jailings, confiscation of lands and goods, - even women and children jailed - all because they had the audacity to think they could read and understand the Bible themselves.

Very few of you, I could bet and win, know even a small part of what "The Pilgrims" went through for 2 decades before they sailed in the Mayflower. (Governor Bradford's own words are still available in his published journal: " Of Plymouth Plantation" - but more amazing is the movie made last year, aired on The History Channel, the most authentic = only a couple small glitches = about the entire saga. It's a top shelf movie, photography, drama, and every other wise, even if you weren't interested in the history of it.)

DVD available in Amazon and other outlets

Now I look at this persecution of my ancestors this way: Were it not for them being hounded from pillar to post, from England to Holland to the shores of New England, I would likely have been born in England. I must admit that I am a proponent of Genetic Memory. I have a great affinity for my ancestral home, particularly the countryside of Yorkshire and Nottingham Shires = but the England of today? I am Eternally, with a capital "E", grateful I was not born there.

So I have oft wondered why the blacks in this country today think: "Hmm, but for slavery, I would likely be living in the inland Bush Country in and around Gambia."

And if their answer to themselves comes back, "I've been cheated. I should be in Gambia." - then who is stopping them?

Bottom line: Until they admit that the slave trade was a 2 way deal, that the blacks of Africa first captured and sold their own countrymen for profit, "STFU. Because of it, dastardly as it was, it's long over and you have riches and/or opportunities you would never have had."

(Maybe I'm looking at all wrong? Maybe I could make a fortune by going to England and shaking them down for what their 11th and 12th great great grandparents did to my ancestors? Ya think?)

After bullying London's mayor into apologizing for his city's role in the transatlantic slave trade more than two centuries ago, Jesse Jackson did what he does best - demand money. At Thursday's memorial commemorating the 200th anniversary of the abolition of England's slave trade,...

The British did not invent slavery.

Slavery existed on every continent, including Africa, since the dawn of History and it still exists in Africa to this day.

The British, however, invented abolitionism coupled with the use of the Royal Navy to put an end to the trans-Atlantic slave trade.

The fact of the matter is that the tribe of Jesse Jackson's African ancestors certainly owned slaves captured from other tribes and that the tribe of Jesse Jackson's African ancestors also profited from selling their captives to the white slave traders.

Back in Africa during those days, some days you enslaved another African and some days another African enslaved you.

Either way, it was Africans selling Africans to the white slave traders.

Jesse Jackson's "reparations" is the reality that he is now fortunate to live in America thanks to that other African who sold his ancestor to the white slave trader.

If that is not good enough for Jesse Jackson, I will gladly pay his "reparations" out of my own pocket as long as he agrees that it is "One Way".

Maybe I could make a fortune by going to England and shaking them down for what they did to my ancestors?)” belongs at bottom of post - where it is, but I didn’t get it deleted in the second paragraph) me bad

Oprah made the whites in her audience stand up and apologize for slavery when she did a segment on Thomas Jefferson and Sally Heming's descendants. Somehow she's still luuuuved by the nation, ugh.

The irony of Oprah's grandstanding is that, in Chicago, over 50% of all whites probably trace their entire American ancestry back to Ellis Island after the end of slavery in America. Their ancestors were never involved with African slavery in Europe and their ancestors had never laid eyes on a black man until at least 20 years after slavery end in America.

A further irony is that, in Chicago, the other whites with older American roots most likely had ancestors that fought, bled and died during the Civil war on the Union side and African Americans owe the freedom of their ancestors from slavery to the ancestors of those whites.

By contrast, most American blacks have some white ancestors that were slave owners and ALL American blacks have African ancestors that enslaved Africans from other tribes.

But, hey, if you are on the Oprah Show and are too dumb to stand up for yourself, you deserve whatever humiliation you get.

Are you serious? I knew she was off the deep end, but that’s just absurd. My grandmother warned me about her, I used to take it with a grain of salt but I’ve been seeing Oprah more and more as a race pusher. My grandmother would tell me that she used to be so fond of her, but she noticed that she just gradually fell deeper in with these radical ideas and she just lost all respect for her.

Jesse Jackson just wants money, and he's going after the boys with the deep pockets.

If he really was against slavery (especially the slavery of blacks), he would start crusading against the ongoing slavery in Africa and the Middle East (in Muslim nations).

But that, good folks, would not be politically correct...plus the U.S. and U.K. governments are easier to target because they will acquiesce (due to the large numbers of girlie men in the governments).
