You are, no doubt, correct, but whatever happened to the studies that say that slightly overweight people live longer than underweight people ?
They were probably thrown down the memory hole. Government exists to control the peasants, and that kind of information would be counter-productive to their efforts. They’re already talking about taxes on high calorie foods, somewhat akin to their “sin tax” on cigarettes and liquor.

We aren’t talking about folks who could lose 10 lbs. We are talking about gigantic folks who could lose 100 lbs. And we as a nation have tons of ‘em. Just go to any Walmart.
