I know that many will disagree with me on this, but I do not think she murdered those patients. They were in unbelievable conditions, and the patients who died were very ill and very weak. Her choice was to give them painkillers and ease their discomfort, or not give them painkillers and let them suffer. With no electricity, clean water, and unbearable heat, either decision could have killed them.
It doesn't help that Charles Foti, the attorney general in charge of the investigation is a grandstanding politician who will do anything for press coverage.

You and I disagree on this story, but I thought you might be interested in this for your ping lists.

Fascinating article. My duaghter is an RN so I know a little about what goes on in hospitals. I believe this doctor did her absolute best for the people in her charge. To try to level criminal charges against her is outrageous, and I'm glad it turned out as it did.

We just GOTTA rebuild a city that’s BELOW SEA LEVEL.
Then we can DO IT ALL AGAIN.

I have no firsthand knowledge. Nothing I have read causes me to conclude that anyone was murdered. The grand jury came to the same conclusion.
I think I am more inclined to side with the care-givers because they are the ones who stayed, literally risking their lives, while others, including family members, fled.

This doctor and the others with her have dedicated their lives to help people. The ONLY way to say they “murdered” anyone is to look in their hearts for intent. Does anyone really believe this doctor had evil intentions in her heart?

I know that many will disagree with me on this, but I do not think she murdered those patients. Those who should have evacuated these patients but didn't are responsible.

The heat there, oppressive as it is, is not “unbearable” - plenty of people bore that heat in the centuries before air-conditioning.
I lived in Louisiana for several summers before we got our first air-conditioner.

I agree with you. My question is when are we going to see charges against the police officers who were caught stealing?

Louisiana is a banana republic. The people who s/b prosecuted are the ones in charge of civil defense at the state & local level. but they are in the same boat as Foti, career policiticans.
Remember in Louisiana if you get elected you’re entitled to whatever you can steal.

From the outset, I believed that this doc at least deserved the benefit of a doubt, and not be ruined because of hysteria and gossip, gossip that seemed fueled by a lot of doctor-bashing.
France had a heat wave and tens of thousands of old folks in nursing homes died--and these were in facilities designed for natural ventilation. This hospital was designed to be air-conditioned, had windows not designed to be opened (I hope they were able to break them)--when the AC went offline in the stifling NO heat, the inside of this hospital had to be nothing short of Hell.

I agree with you, assuming the good Doc’s name is Doctor God.
