Ian Tyson? Was he at one time a part of the folk duo,Ian and Sylvia?
I came up in the Fifties and Sixties.I love a good melody and smooth harmonies.Cannot STAND the headbanger garbage or this howling and growling that passes for rock today.
Groups like the Young Rascals,The Buckinghams or Gary Lewis and the Playboys would NEVER get a recording contract today.

Yes, sir, he was. He now owns a ranch and is a working cowboy and a cowboy singer.

It's really sad but true. I was listening to the Skyliners' "Since I Don't Have You" the other night and really regretting that that isn't how mainstream music sounds today. It was magical, sweet and innocent. What passes for R&B or soul nowadays usually has a terrible, manufactured beat, a sample from another song, and a singer singing about "gotta get you naked, girl" or something like that. And, instead of a pure voice, we have to put up with all of those runs and vocal gymnastics.
