US Senator Larry Craig resigned tonight as Senate co-chairman for Mitt Romney's presidential campaign, within hours after news broke of Craig's guilty plea to disorderly conduct after an incident in a men's bathroom.

"Senator Craig has stepped down from his role with the campaign. He did not want to be a distraction and we accept his decision," Romney's campaign said in a statement.

MHG,
it was known on the Hill that he was a closet gay. It was
written about not that long ago in a gay paper. How could
Mitt not know? Is he “tone deaf” or just a rush to judgement
guy? Or did he not care? Or did he delegate this to some
underling and not have a role in the decision. None of those
sound good.

How come our queers get caught and theirs don’t???

Our gay members of Congress are out in the open and don't have to sneak around.

And as an aside, Senator Craig is a Mormon. Perhaps that
is one reason he wasn’t vetted closely. We’ll never know.

You are a truly good, nice person and a respected FReeper. No question about it.

However, to suggest that the Romney campaign had no foreknowledge of this man’s “proclivities” either A) is quite naive, or B) if true, shows a shocking incompetence on the part of the Romney campaign staff.

I don’t mean to pick on anyone here, but those are facts.

I lean toward ‘he delegated’ ... a presidential campaign is a very convoluted process and he cannot be held accountable for every error his underlings make. Sorry, can’t agree with this smear. Now, if Romney’s desire to aid the homosexual community in gaining powewr in politics is somehow involved, well that is a different perspective altogether. Romney’s favoring degenerates in Mass was purely political pandering because there are so many powerful degenerates in Mass (with Kennedy or Franks or other notorious names), IMHO. I always questioned the Bushes retaining homes in that state of degenrates. If it weren’t for the power of PC, the per capita of degenerates in Mass would be an interesting statistic, and especially politically powwerful degenerates like Kennedy and Franks.

Oh man! As if Mormonism doesn’t have enough negatives already ... I really feel for my Mormon friends though they are protected here in East Tennessee from political machinations.

The Bush vacay home is in Kennebunkport, Maine.

Yes. Lt. Governor Risch (very popular Republican) would be the favorite.

Had anyone expressed an interest in running agains Craig this time since his term is up in 2009? I’m assuming Craig intended to run for re-election....

The Democrats have sacrificial lambs for 2008. This is Idaho and a presidential year.

Craig is a Methodist. The Mormons have enough problems, what with the new movie.

After reading that garbage, I reached for the germ-X to ‘wash the filth away’ and ‘santize my PC’. It never dawns on degenerate minds that their vedetta approach is evidence that they are not normal human beings and are of a twisted warped mind.

In this case, he who is not guilty cast the first stone. I am not guilty, how about you?

The new movie is such an over-the-top smear-fest that I think, overall, it will turn out positively for the LDS church.

LCS,

I read that he is a mormon, but maybe they confused
him with Senator Craig Thomas, who died recently.
thank for the correction.
