Gonzales was a punching bag, alright. Bush set him up by inexplicably sending him to the Senate to testify about the perfectly legal firings of US Attorneys, and the Democrats fell all over themselves for the opportunity to punch Gonzales around for weeks and months on end.

With friends like Bush, Gonzales didn’t need enemies.

On the other hand, Gonzales stunk up the joint anyway.
