>>Nonsense...the people have the opportunity to vote at least every 2 years.

I want to believe in our government, I want to believe it is working for us.......I just see so much evidence otherwise.

Hundreds of millions of dollars flow through Washington to influence policy everyday.

To provide a bit of perspective..........on a local level.

In Austin Texas state house, did you realize that Dell computer has over sixty lobbyist alone?

Not picking on any particular company, but my point is, if one company canvasses the state house with this many lobbyist, it’s not hard to imagine what is happening in Washington.

Corporate and foreign interest pump millions into the pockets of our government officials to sway policy.

Don’t know about you, but I don’t have that kind of cash just laying around. Who do you think gets most of the attention in Washington?

My little phone call, or a fella willing to spread a few thousand dollars around in the form of perks, vacations “fact finding missions”, gifts and so forth.

Feed the beast! If one becomes accustomed to the high life, when the high life is offered, it’s again consumed.

But there is always a price. Sorry, but I feel it’s naive to think of Washington as Mayberry RFD.

Have you not noticed an increase in the amount scandals popping up in both parties?

I’m just a bit burned out on these fat cats enjoying the high life while the average joe six pack gives up to 50% of his hard earned income to feed the governments, Fed, State, local.

I believe term limits on every elected position would help. Sadly, we can’t get those yahoos to vote that into law.

So what else is new? Read some history. There have been scandals since the time politics started. And always will be.

And people have always been "outraged" by the influence of various groups.

And that's why our political system is superior; we have the power to vote our people out. Many other countries don't. Their stuck with bad influences sometimes for decades or longer.

Dell has lobbyists in Texas. Doesn't bother me. I imagine Steve Jobs has them in other states. I hope Dell maintains their contract in TX because I happen to like Dell.
