Someone trolled through a thread the other day and tried to insuate that Mitt might have closet sexual problems, ala Sen Craig. I jumped on that one asap, but the stuff the DNC goons will ooze out will make your skin crawl, really, that’s if Mitt is the pubby nominee against the Rodham-rodent. If Obama gets the nod, well that wouldmake for a whole different ball of yarn what with the LDS being accused (speciously, usually, I might add) of being hyper racist until just a few decades ago. There was a racial problem in priesthood honors but not in the general populace of the church.
Unbelievable. Where do these people come out of the woodwork from?
I am not a romney supporter but I don’t buy the he is not a christian line.
LOL. :-)
Baptism of the Spirit. Being born again is required. Being a new creature in Christ.
It isn’t by a ceremony that you become His, it is by His Spirit.
Hope that clears it up for you, but I’m sure it doesn’t.
I think most “mainstream” Christians are religious atheists in their interpretation of the scriptures and the way they deny the literal resurrection of Jesus Christ into a a perfect, immortal body of flesh and bones.
“There are two classes of atheists in the world. One class denies the existence of God in the most positive language; the other denies his existence in duration or space. One says `There is no God’; the other says `God is not here or there, any more than he exists now and then.’ The infidel says `God does not exist anywhere.’ The immaterialist says `He exists nowhere.’ The infidel says, There is no such substance as God.’ The immaterialist says `There is such a substance as God, but it is without parts.’ The atheist says `There is no such substance as spirit.’ The immaterialist says `A spirit, though he lives and acts, occupies no room, and fills no space in the same way and in the same manner as matter, not even so much as does the minutest grain of sand.’ The atheist does not seek to hide his infidelity; but the immaterialist, whose declared belief amounts to the same thing as the atheist’s, endeavors to hide his infidelity under the shallow covering of a few words. The immaterialist is a religious atheist; he only differs from the other class of atheists by clothing an indivisible unextended nothing with the powers of a God. One class believes in no God; the other believes that Nothing is god and worships it as such.”
You need to have seen this to understand their post.
That’s again interpretation.. as good as any Joe 6 pack Christian might guess.
jesus was baptized by water and by the spirit. Are you better than he?
Are you?
Do you believe the Holy Ghost is God?
Jesus body is perfect, with spear-pierced side and nail marks in his wrists and feet/ankles. And these marks will be visible in eternity when some come before Him and ask ‘What are these marks in your hands and feet?’ Behold, there are so many mysteries ...
Of course not, that’s why I was baptized by immersion for the remission of sins by someone in authority with the priesthood, and then afterwards recieved the holy ghost by the laying on of hands. This doesn’t save me, but it’s the gate to start. Faith without works is dead, and it takes a lifetime of works. We are saved by grace, after all we can do.
THe first principles of the Gospel are:
Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ
Repetenance
baptism by immersion for the remission of sins
The laying on of hands for the gift of the holy Ghost
Word of freindly advice, Mormon FRiend: Are you conversant in Jewish Mikvah? If not, try to avoid the issue of water baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist. Nicodemus was a member of the Jewish Sanhedrina nd he was in a fog over the exchange with Jesus about ‘being born again’. Just try to avoid the issue until you understand the Mikvah.
Ana Marie Cox: 'I Know Mitt Romney Is Not Himself Christian'
Quite a few lurkers so far
Wow, I am glad you read a book about a non-mormon and proclaimed it the best book you have ever read about such a subject. I think I would like to know the truth behind GWB, so I will buy a Molly Ivans book. She is a writer, and has done research, so she must know the truth.
So you must not be an immaterialist? You believe God the Father and Jesus Christ the son both have glorified bodies of flesh and bone.
I’m a pretty smart guy, and your point is?
Who are you quoting in the second paragraph of your post at number 66?
“There are two classes of atheists in the world. One class denies the existence of God in the most positive language; the other denies his existence in duration or space. One says `There is no God; the other says `God is not here or there, any more than he exists now and then. The infidel says `God does not exist anywhere. The immaterialist says `He exists nowhere. The infidel says, There is no such substance as God. The immaterialist says `There is such a substance as God, but it is without parts. The atheist says `There is no such substance as spirit. The immaterialist says `A spirit, though he lives and acts, occupies no room, and fills no space in the same way and in the same manner as matter, not even so much as does the minutest grain of sand. The atheist does not seek to hide his infidelity; but the immaterialist, whose declared belief amounts to the same thing as the atheists, endeavors to hide his infidelity under the shallow covering of a few words. Exactly, I hear people saying that all the time, I can’t even go to a kegger without all the various atheists spewing out those lines, small world huh.
If you haven’t gone a hiking yet, you might want to filed this one.
