I can see why they're worried about Bobby Jindal and the prospect of a GOP takeover of the statehouse in Baton Rouge. It would leave Ray Nagin high and stranded.

Nagin endorsed Jindal for the 2003 governor election. That is one reason Blanko drug her feet. Nagin and Mitch Landrieu ended up in the top two spots for the runoff after too many good candidates diluted the vote in the primary election. It was either 4 years of Nagin, incompetent but not a crook or 8+ years of Landrieu, son of the real political crime family of New Orleans. Sinator Mary’s baby brother couldn’t win in his hometown.

Which is more than Ray "Chocolate City" Nagin ever did for the people of New Orleans. Nah, his idea was to leave them stranded in that cesspool to drown.
