SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Authorities said they removed nearly 80,000 rounds of ammunition from the home of a South Bend man who warned that the world was going to end.
South Bend police and federal agents blocked off streets around Kevin Rieder's home for six hours Wednesday while they removed the ammunition.
Rieder, 38, was arrested Wednesday and charged with illegal possession of ammunition while subject to a restraining order, Assistant U.S. Attorney Donald Schmidt said.
The restraining order had been taken out by an ex-girlfriend, Schmidt said.
Rieder told employees at a gun shop where he bought 18,000 rounds that he believed the world was going to end, officials said.
He was in custody Friday morning, awaiting a Tuesday bail and detention hearing.

Poser, what is your opinion of the Remington 1100 shotgun? I just bought a 12 and 20 and haven’t tried them yet.
Unless their code has been adopted by a state's legislature or Congress, I don't see how it carries the force of law...

I guess if you're in one of the 41 states that's your limit.
You will not be dissappointed. The 1100 is an exceptional semi at a good price. I know folks who have shot tens of thousands of rounds through them on the skeet field (in all 4 gauges, 12, 20, 28, & .410) without a glitch. I would say, after the Browning A-5, it is the most trouble free and durable semi.(I am an A-5 junkie) I would reccomend one to family or friend without reservation. I knew if there was a restraining order out on you, you couldn’t buy a gun...didn’t think it applied to ammo, but it makes sense. Most people who get an RO typically are violent, angry, dangerous etc.
Too bad he didn’t utilize it when the thugs came knocking.
Anyone can take out a restraining order against you. Under this scenario, you can force the entire state to disarm if all it takes is to get a restraining order in order to make ammo illegal.
Just so you know, he could kill one zombie every second for over 22 hours.

Ever been down there when the show comes? You’d swear the world was going to end. Now trying to shoot each snow flake might be a problem.

My step daughter got a DUI about 1 year ago. She received 400 hours of community service and 1 year probation.
When probation started she was told that she could not have any firearms in the house during that period.
Her husband, an avid hunter, was not too happy about that.

It is a reasonably priced gun that should work flawlessly. I also have a Winchester 1400. I find the Remington to be of higher quality and have never had a misfeed, a common problem with the Winchester.
If you are looking for a good all around semi-auto shotgun, the 1100 is a great choice. I have a slug barrel and 26” and 29” barrels with multiple chokes. If you are planning to specialize in trap or skeet, the over-under Russian guns might be a better choice.

As far as I understand, anyone can take out a restraining order on someone. The article doesn’t say if it was a temporary one (without a court hearing) or a perminent one.
And if he was found to be a threat to himself or others, he could have been committed; but he wasn’t.
relax - any move would be arbitrary and carpricious......and likely result in the untimely passing of the sponsor
